Dear Neighbors,

Memorial Day is upon us, and this is a day that we honor and mourn those who have served to protect our freedoms. As a 55 yr. resident of Linden, I come from a military family that has served in the Armed Forces since WWII.

As you gather with family and friends outside to celebrate our freedom, understand that these liberties were made possible by those who sacrificed their lives.

Be mindful of the volume of music played. We have neighbors who work shifts, small children who need sleep, and others who appreciate the neighborhood's quietness for their mental health and wellness. Speaking of mental health and wellness, our Linden Police Department has a special unit known as our CIT (crisis intervention) who will listen and provide assistance to anyone who is struggling. Several Sunnyside residents have used this service. Call the non emergency number 908 474 8500 and ask for a CIT officer.

If you see a concern in the neighborhood that I may have missed in my walks, contact me. Photos do help as documentation. Residents are being held accountable. Together we have eliminated many illegal car repair shops, car lots, held landlords and renters responsible for the lack luster environment. At the last council meeting an ordinance was passed and several were introduced regarding Deerfield Terrace and parking, a specific parking concern on Rosewood Terrace, and University Terrace, and 4 way stop signs on Summit Terrace and Fernwood Terrace. I am working on addressing our sidewalks and roads that are in need of paving including the dead end portion of Verona that were affected by the recent upgrades to Al Kalla Park.

I am solution-oriented and have a deep commitment to our community. It is a privilege to earn your trust.!!!

In conclusion, thank you to the team of volunteers who made the Kids to Park Day a huge success. As I was walking, I saw they were setting up very early so we can all show up and have a great time. They are the behind scenes volunteer crew that go unnoticed and I want to let them know they are seen and that I appreciate all their efforts.

The safety and well-being of all 10th Ward residents and all Linden residents is our top priority.

There have been car vandalism incidents across our area involving broken windows and damaged vehicles, often occurring overnight.

Linden Police are actively investigating these incidents.

Safety tip:

· Remove valuables: Take key fobs, bags, car electronics, and other valuables inside, rather than leaving them in sight. Don’t send an invitation!!!
· Lock up the Car: Always LOCK your car when you are not in the vehicle and when you enter it.
· Park smart: Choose well-lit, visible, and busy areas for parking, rather than secluded spots.
· Report suspicious activity: Contact Linden police if you see suspicious individuals or behavior in your neighborhood. Linden Police Non-Emergency Number 908 474 8500. They are the highly trained professionals who serve and protect us.

The safety and well-being of all 10th Ward residents and all Linden residents are our top priority.

Spring is here! So is our Bulk Trash pick-up on April 22nd. It’s a great way to hit the reset button and clear the clutter. and do some Spring cleaning.

With the warmer weather upon us, I wanted to share some tips and reminders regarding lawn maintenance and family gatherings. This is the time of year when yard work and lawn maintenance begins. Cutting your grass is essential and will be enforced with a summons if it gets too high.

Thank you to those who maintain a well-kept lawn. Every day I walk past your yards and gardens, I am the grateful and fortunate recipient of beauty.

You see, you think you are just gardening, keeping your lawn nice by putting your hands in dirt and pulling out a w**d or two. But you are doing so much more. You are creating a place for people to stop and take a moment. Thank you for your continued kindness and for sharing the beautiful fruits of your labor with us. We truly appreciate you!!!

As you gather with family and friends outside, be mindful of the volume of music played. We have neighbors who work shifts, small children who need to sleep, and those who appreciate the quiet of the neighborhood. Thank you for being kind and respectful to others.

If you see a concern in the neighborhood, please contact me: [email protected]. Photos do help as documentation. Many have emailed me and those residents are being held accountable. Thank you for the extra set of eyes. I appreciate you!!!

If you have social media, share the information with friends. My email is [email protected]
