Dear Neighbors,
Memorial Day is upon us, and this is a day that we honor and mourn those who have served to protect our freedoms. As a 55 yr. resident of Linden, I come from a military family that has served in the Armed Forces since WWII.
As you gather with family and friends outside to celebrate our freedom, understand that these liberties were made possible by those who sacrificed their lives.
Be mindful of the volume of music played. We have neighbors who work shifts, small children who need sleep, and others who appreciate the neighborhood's quietness for their mental health and wellness. Speaking of mental health and wellness, our Linden Police Department has a special unit known as our CIT (crisis intervention) who will listen and provide assistance to anyone who is struggling. Several Sunnyside residents have used this service. Call the non emergency number 908 474 8500 and ask for a CIT officer.
If you see a concern in the neighborhood that I may have missed in my walks, contact me. Photos do help as documentation. Residents are being held accountable. Together we have eliminated many illegal car repair shops, car lots, held landlords and renters responsible for the lack luster environment. At the last council meeting an ordinance was passed and several were introduced regarding Deerfield Terrace and parking, a specific parking concern on Rosewood Terrace, and University Terrace, and 4 way stop signs on Summit Terrace and Fernwood Terrace. I am working on addressing our sidewalks and roads that are in need of paving including the dead end portion of Verona that were affected by the recent upgrades to Al Kalla Park.
I am solution-oriented and have a deep commitment to our community. It is a privilege to earn your trust.!!!
In conclusion, thank you to the team of volunteers who made the Kids to Park Day a huge success. As I was walking, I saw they were setting up very early so we can all show up and have a great time. They are the behind scenes volunteer crew that go unnoticed and I want to let them know they are seen and that I appreciate all their efforts.
