📬 Important Medicare mail will be arriving soon.

If you have a Medicare Advantage or Medicare prescription drug plan, watch for your Annual Notice of Change—often called an ANOC—in September.

This notice explains changes to your plan that will take effect January 1, 2027. Even if you are happy with your current coverage, don’t assume everything will remain the same.

When your ANOC arrives, review changes to:

• Monthly premiums, deductibles and copayments
• Benefits and covered services
• Prescription drugs and pharmacy coverage
• Provider and pharmacy networks
• Extra benefits offered by your plan

Keep the notice in a safe place and compare the changes with your current healthcare and medication needs.

Medicare Open Enrollment is October 15 through December 7. This is your opportunity to review your options and make changes for 2027 if necessary.

Healthcare appointments sometimes take longer than expected. A little preparation can make the day more comfortable and less stressful.

Consider packing:

• A current medication list
• Your three most important questions
• A notebook and pen
• Water and a snack, if permitted
• A phone charger
• A sweater for chilly waiting rooms

And when it would be helpful, bring a trusted person for another set of ears.

Your patient portal can be one of the easiest ways to stay organized between healthcare appointments.

Use it to review visit notes, check medication and allergy lists, send secure messages, request refills or appointments, and download important medical records.

Take a few minutes to log in before you urgently need information. Make sure your contact information is current and notifications are turned on.

Helping someone else manage their care? Ask the healthcare office about proxy or caregiver access. This provides you with your own authorized login—without sharing the patient’s password.

Remember: portal messages should not be used for emergencies or concerns requiring immediate attention.

Caregiving often involves more than one person—and important details can easily get lost in separate texts, notes and conversations.

Choose one shared care calendar to track:

• Appointments
• Transportation
• Medication refills
• Follow-up tasks

Paper or digital, the best system is the one everyone will actually use. Decide who will keep it updated, review it regularly and make sure the person receiving care agrees about who has access.

One reliable place can reduce missed appointments, repeated messages and unnecessary confusion.
