Between the aliens, hantavirus, and shutting down primary races for blatantly racist redistricting, we’ve got whiplash from the chaos unleashed on us this week. Not to mention that the administration has announced they will once again be significantly ramping up ICE operations… We needed a little community building to remind us you can grow through what you go through. Follow us for a little dopamine boost & watch our garden grow. The food we grow will be distributed to our Little Free 🌈 Pantry (and others around d Lincoln) We’ll also be making salsa for donations to support stocking the pantries through the winter. 👨🏼‍🌾👩🏽‍🌾

✨Last night we had an amazing event for Chris Backemeyer for Congress and other local candidates Ritnour for Lancaster County Attorney Rachel Garver For Lancaster County Treasurer Jay Pitts for Lancaster County Sheriff Caitlin Knutson for Legislature District 2 Michaela Conway for Nebraska State Board Of Education - Dist 5. It was exciting to see so many people come out to support these campaigns and know that we have a chance to make real change in Nebraska with candidates that care about our values. 😎Thanks to everyone who showed up and to our amazing Taco Tuesday Familia who helped put the event together! It's easy to assume that a small town in Nebraska doesn't care about a detention center being put in their community, but there is resistance on the ground in McCook working tirelessly to make sure the detainees are not forgotten. Holding space for the those being held in the detention center and those who have been harmed by ICE. Last weekend we traveled four hours to stand in solidarity with them. We will continue to go back. We are all in this together & the only way we get to the other side is working together. This is what democracy looks like.

Es fácil suponer que a un pequeño pueblo en Nebraska no le importa que se instale un centro de detención en su comunidad, pero hay resistencia en el terreno en McCook que trabaja incansablemente para asegurarse de que las personas detenidas no sean olvidadas. Manteniendo un espacio para quienes están retenidos en el centro de detención y para quienes han sido perjudicados por ICE. El fin de semana pasado viajamos cuatro horas para estar en solidaridad con ellos. Seguiremos regresando.
