Tomorrow marks one full year.

Three hundred and sixty-four days of believing in something that does not yet exist on paper the way we see it in our hearts.

Three hundred and sixty-four days of talking about prevention when most people only fund crisis.

Three hundred and sixty-four days of refusing to accept that incarceration, addiction, homelessness, and hopelessness are the only options available to people who are struggling.

Over the last year, we have shared statistics, costs, facts, and plans.

But behind every number is a person.

A mother trying to break a cycle.

A father trying to rebuild trust.

A young adult who never learned how to believe in themselves.

A person carrying trauma they never asked for.

A person who has convinced themselves they are too broken to change.

At Misfit by Design, we believe prevention starts long before someone reaches a jail cell, treatment center, shelter, or crisis point.

We believe people deserve support before everything falls apart.

We believe people deserve a chance to understand themselves, heal, grow, and discover who they were created to be.

Tomorrow, we celebrate one year of showing up for this mission.

Today, we ask for your help.

Not because we are giving up.

But because we are just getting started.

In just a few days, our fundraiser will enter a new chapter.

For the past year, we have shared facts, statistics, costs, and the vision behind Misfit by Design. We have talked about prevention, healing, self-worth, and why we believe people deserve support before they reach a crisis point.

Now, we’re preparing to share something even more powerful.

Stories.

Beginning soon, I will be sharing a weekly storytelling series. These stories will be real. They will be honest. They will share the moments that shaped my life, the lessons I learned through addiction, incarceration, healing, and recovery, and why Misfit by Design means so much to me.

Because behind every nonprofit, every mission, and every cause is a story.

And behind every story is a person who simply needed someone to believe in them.

Before we begin this next chapter, I have one simple request:

Tomorrow, we begin a new chapter.

For the last year, we have shared statistics, facts, numbers, costs, and reasons why prevention matters. We have talked about the gaps in our communities, the cycles that keep repeating, and the need for something different. We have shared the vision behind Misfit by Design and why we believe people deserve support before they reach a crisis point.

But tomorrow, the numbers become names.

The statistics become stories.

The mission becomes personal.

Over the next chapter of this journey, we will begin sharing the stories behind the passion. My story. The stories of others. The moments that shaped us. The pain that could have broken us. The people who were overlooked, dismissed, or forgotten.

Because prevention is not just a program.

It’s a person.

It’s the teenager who believes they have no future.

It’s the mother struggling with shame.

It’s the man trying to break a cycle he inherited.

It’s the person sitting alone wondering if anyone sees them.

We believe stories build bridges where statistics cannot.

We believe connection creates change.

And we believe every person deserves the opportunity to discover that their past does not define their future.

Tomorrow, we start sharing the “why” behind Misfit by Design.

Not because our stories are unique.

But because they remind us that healing, hope, and transformation are possible for anyone.

Day 362 of Our Fundraiser – We Are Almost There

For the last year, I have done something that many people never see behind the scenes.

I have shown up.

Not because it was easy.
Not because funding poured in.
Not because someone handed me a roadmap.

I showed up because I know what it feels like to be the person everyone gave up on.

I know what it feels like to carry shame, trauma, addiction, self-doubt, and a past that seems impossible to escape.

And I know what it feels like when just one person believes there is still something worth saving inside of you.

That belief is why Misfit by Design exists.

Today is Day 362.

For nearly a year, we have been placing our name, our mission, and our vision in front of the world. We have been planting seeds. Some landed on rocky ground. Some were ignored. But some have started to grow.

In just 2 more days, we reach the next chapter.

The next chapter is not about statistics, budgets, or business plans.

The next chapter is about stories.

Stories of pain.
Stories of survival.
Stories of resilience.
Stories of people who were counted out but refused to stay down.

Because behind every addiction is a story.
Behind every prison sentence is a story.
Behind every homeless individual is a story.
Behind every person struggling to find their worth is a story.

And those stories matter.

Misfit by Design was created so people can stop being defined by their worst moments and start discovering who they were always meant to become.

Day 361 of the Misfit by Design Fundraiser

Some people see a person struggling and ask:

“What’s wrong with them?”

At Misfit by Design, we ask:

“What happened to them?”

Behind addiction, homelessness, incarceration, low self-worth, and self-destructive choices, there is often a story. A story of trauma. A story of pain. A story of someone who never had the tools, support, or opportunity to heal.

We believe people are more than the worst thing they’ve ever done.

We believe healing is possible.

We believe prevention works.

Every dollar donated helps us move one step closer to creating a place where people can process their trauma, build confidence, learn life skills, discover their strengths, and create a future they never thought was possible.

Imagine what could happen if we invested in people before they reached a crisis.

Imagine what could happen if someone finally believed in them.
