Nebraska Health Care Foundation is honored to be selected for the Health of Nebraska sponsorship, an impactful initiative made possible through a partnership between Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska and CHAD Nebraska. This support will directly contribute to the Nebraska Health Care LEAD Program, a year-long leadership development experience designed to strengthen leaders serving in nursing homes and assisted living communities across the state.

As one LEAD graduate shared, “LEAD is a foundation rooted in mentorship from leaders in nursing home communities throughout Nebraska. It introduced me to leaders across the state that I can reach out to for guidance and support. The time spent in the LEAD course added valuable lessons and skills that I can implement myself, while also giving me the opportunity to develop my own team of leaders at my facility.”

Thanks to a grant from the West Bend Insurance Company Charitable Fund at the West Bend Community Foundation, Nebraska Health Care Foundation is offering a Safe Resident Assistance Grant to eligible Nebraska Nursing Facility Association and Nebraska Assisted Living Association facility members.

Amber's advocacy work is highlighted, including her experience at the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living Congressional Briefing through a Nebraska Health Care Foundation scholarship. The AHCA/NCAL Congressional Briefing is an annual event in Washington, D.C., that brings together hundreds of long-term care professionals to meet with Members of Congress and discuss issues impacting residents, facilities, and communities.

“It sparked something in me. I realized that to make a real difference, I had to think beyond my day-to-day work," she said of her experience at the Congressional Briefing.

NHCF will award eight (8) General Scholarships up to $1,000 each to individuals working in Nebraska’s nursing homes and assisted living communities wishing to enhance their skills and abilities in non-nursing roles.

This scholarship can be applied to trainings (i.e., social services designee, Alzheimer's and dementia, activity director, dietary, etc.) or events (i.e., AHCA/NCAL Quality Summit, AHCA/NCAL Annual Convention, NNFA/NALA Annual Convention, etc.)

Thanks to a grant from the West Bend Insurance Company Charitable Fund at the West Bend Community Foundation, Nebraska Health Care Foundation is offering a Safe Resident Assistance Grant to eligible Nebraska Nursing Facility Association and Nebraska Assisted Living Association facility members.

In 2026, the West Bend Community Foundation is making it possible for NHCF to subsidize the cost of safe resident assistance equipment, such as a lift, purchased by awarded facilities. NHCF will award a total of four (4) grants at no more than $2,500 each.

Applicants are not required to be West Bend Mutual Insurance customers.
