Last night Community Action hosted its Legislative Reception. What an INCREDIBLE evening of amazing food and an incredible venue, special thank you to Talon Room and our sponsor The Nebraska Civic Engagement Table !
Our Senators present were able to enjoy engaging conversation with contituents from around the state. As a service focused non-profit network that serves all 93 counties, we are responsible for educating our leaders on our work . Advocacy is the heart of non profit success. Please welcome Tina Rockenbach as the new Executive Director for Community Action of Nebraska (CAN). She is a native of Crete, Nebraska and brings extensive nonprofit experience. She has also run her own childcare center and currently serves her community as a volunteer firefighter/EMT and youth swim team coach. Tina is honored and excited to lead CAN and to be able to serve Nebraska in this pivotal role.

Congratulations to Heather Loughman, the new CEO at Community Action of Lancaster and Saunders Counties. We've worked with Heather for many years and know she is a fantastic and passionate leader who will do great things in her new role.

Heather Loughman has been named Community Action's new CEO. She will begin the role on October 31, succeeding current CEO Vi See. Will you join us in congratulating Heather?

"Community Action is an organization very dear to me, where I have had tremendous opportunity to learn and grow both personally and professionally," said Loughman. "Learning and growth will be at the forefront of Community Action's continued efforts to create opportunities for individuals to achieve economic stability, and to address both poverty's conditions and causes. Hunger continues to affect people in our communities. One in six Americans don't know where their meals will come from each day. Community Action supports food banks and supplemental food commodity programs to ensure that no one goes hungry.

October is Tackling Hunger Month. Community Action can help individuals or families dealing with food insecurities. Use the map at canhelp.org to find a Community Action Agency near you!

If you want to help, support your local food bank by making a donation. A little goes a long way when someone is hungry.
