🃏✨ Cozy Game Night: The Evolution of Trick-Taking ✨🃏

Looking for a relaxing evening filled with good company, tasty treats, and a delightful board game experience?

This time, we're taking a little trip through gaming history! Join us for a special Cozy Game Night exploring how one of the oldest and most beloved card game mechanisms has evolved over the years: **trick-taking games!**

We'll start with a classic and work our way through more modern twists, playing four games that show just how much you can do with the simple idea of "who wins the trick?"

🃏 **Whist** — One of the classics that helped define the trick-taking genre
🧙 **Wizard** — Add predictions, special cards, and a little bit of magic
🐈 **Cat in the Box** — What if the cards don't even have a suit until you decide they do?
🚀 **The Crew** — Take trick-taking into cooperative space exploration!

We'll guide you through each game, so you don't need to know how to play any of them before you arrive. Come for one game, stay for the whole journey, and discover how a centuries-old card game concept keeps finding new ways to surprise us.

We bring our massive game library to CLAAS Omaha, fill the room with tables, open up the snack bar, and spend two days gaming together.

Great Plains Game Festival: Harvest Edition returns November 13 & 14 at CLAAS Omaha for two days of doing what we like best: playing board games together.
Harvest is our more relaxed version of the Great Plains Game Festival. We bring the games, set up the tables, stock the snack bar, and invite you to settle in for a weekend of gaming.

Looking for people who actually want to play the heavy games? 👀

Join us for Chonky Game Day on July 25th from 1–5 PM as we crack open the big boxes and dive into Trickerion!

This month we'll be playing Trickerion, a classic heavy hitter that uses worker placement and simultaneous action selection mechanisms. This game is best suited for players interested in longer, more strategic tabletop experiences and will be fully set up before attendees arrive so you can jump right into learning and playing.

Trickerion is a competitive Euro-style strategy game set in a fictional world inspired by the late 19th century urban life and culture, spiced with a pinch of supernatural. Want to know more about this game beforehand? Check it out here:

What is Chonky Game Day?
Chonky Game Day is our new teach-and-play series focused on bigger, deeper board games that are hard to get to the table. Check out our other community events here:

Who is this game day for?
Maybe your usual group hears “4-hour euro” and suddenly has “other plans.” Maybe you own a game with a 40-page rulebook and nobody brave enough to learn it with you. Maybe you just want fellow cardboard gremlins who think “complexity rating” is a challenge, not a warning.

Good news: we got you.

Due to the complexity and length of the featured games, Chonky Game Day is designed for older teens and adults

What will we be doing?
We’ll be teaching Trickerion, and spending the afternoon making questionable strategic decisions together. Bring your gamer brain. We’ll handle the rest.

Do I need to know how to play this game beforehand?
No! We'll setup and teach the game to you.

Is there a cost?
Yes, it is $10 per person.
