*See Description: for more information. WELCOME!! We are here to support you!!

My name is Caralea and my husbands name is Marcus. We have four children together; Our oldest is Keech (9), our twins from another mother are Daniel and Sydney (6) and our baby MarLea Rose will be 3 VERY SOON! Our little MarLea was a planned and healthy pregnancy, it was not until they day of her birth that we learned she had some special abilities and adorable unique features that we fell in love

with. We learned during our hospital stay that she was deaf/hh and around 6 months of age she was diagnosed with OAVS by the Cranial/Facial Clinic at Boy's Town National Research Hospital. We have had what feels like hundreds of visits to doctors, specialists, therapists, signing classes, conferences and more. Through these last 3 amazing years MarLea has tested wearing a BAHA (Bone-anchored hearing aid), now has her own tiny pink hearing aid (that she despises wearing) and also wears glasses too! We are actively teaching MarLea American Sign Language (ASL) as her primary language. She knows OVER 150 signs at the young age of 3. We couldn't be more proud of how smart she is and just how tough of a fighter she is. My goal for this group is to get parents of deaf/hard of hearing(hh) children from Lincoln and across Nebraska together, starting online. Together we can support each other, share our stories, start blogs and discussions, get/give advice and eventually social outings or parites. I plan to get local professionals involved as well or at the very least a list of contacts/resources for families to use. Our most recent adventure was the start of Team MarLea Rose. On April 20th, 2013 we walked for the 1st ever Huskers for Hearing 5k Fun Run. It was cold, but we were there and full of spirit. Our team earned an amazing $200 in donations and from our fundraising efforts by selling adorable hair bows (from Ellie's Beautiful Bows). Our next inspiration is geared towards our male fans and those who are music enthusiasts. R&M Designs is collaborating with Team MarLea Rose to promote deaf awareness and share information about safe listening and preventive hearing loss through Decibels for the Deaf. (MORE INFO TO COME)
