They say it takes a village. And boy did we have that village today when we held our Build-a-Bed event!
We had around 60 volunteers from not only our club, Optimist Club of Lincoln, but fellow clubs Optimist Club of Denton, Lincoln Evening Optimist Club, Lincoln Sunrise Optimist Club, Lincoln West Optimist Club Beatrice Optimist Club and David City Optimist Club as well as others joining us in making 30 beds for children in the community that do not currently have a bed! We partnered with Sleep in Heavenly Peace- Lincoln Ne to create these beds! Nebraska District Optimists Optimist International

The Optimist Club of Lincoln presented LeRoy Sievers, President of the Star City Optimist Youth Foundation Board, with a check for $50,000 to help launch the Heading for Home campaign of improvements for the Sports Complex. Our club is so excited to be part of the next chapter of the complex for the youth of Lincoln!

March 5th 1926, the Optimist Club of Lincoln was charted. 100 years later we are able to celebrate with friends and family!

Thank you Lincoln West Optimist Club for sharing this! The Optimist Club of Lincoln is very proud that we can sponsor this activity with our fellow Optimists! We are very excited to share this opportunity and are very grateful for all the volunteers who have stepped up so far!

Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a fantastic organization that supplies beds to children in the community that do not have one. Imagine having to sleep on the floor or a couch every night then heading off to school and trying to learn with a poor night's sleep. LWOC is joining with the other Optimist Clubs in Lincoln to support Sleep in Heavenly Peace by participating in a Build a Bed event. So far we have 10 of the 20 volunteers needed. Members, check your email for more info on the May 23rd event and consider signing up. Your friends and neighbors are welcome as well.
