Peaceful Pastures Donkey Rescue is a 501(c)(3) focused on saving donkeys from abuse and neglect. EIN: 87-2472396 Definitely!

Frequently asked questions:

1) Where do you get the donkeys? Donkeys at the rescue come mainly from owner surrender, auctions, and kill pens. At times, people find that they are unable to care for their donkey due to time or financial constraints, special needs or behavioral issues. We accept all donkeys in need regardless of age, illness, body condition, or adoptability. We attend auctions that

are also attended by "kill buyers" and save as many as we can get away from them. At times there are donkeys in kill pens that are not getting "bailed" and are slated for shipment to slaughter. We try to help the most needy get out prior to shipment.

2) Do you adopt out donkeys? We usually have around 300 donkeys on site and love when we can join donkeys with a wonderful new human family. We do not adopt out intact males and do not condone breeding donkeys. With so many donkeys in need, including pregnant ones, we feel there is no reason to breed more.

3) How much land is needed for a donkey? Ideally, your donkey should have an acre or so or 1.5-2 acres for 2. Donkeys are very social and it is best if they have a friend.

4) What all is needed to care for a donkey? Donkeys should have a shelter such as a barn or lean to shed to get out of the wind, rain and snow. Their fur is not the same as a horse, and they are more affected by the elements.

5) How much do you charge for adoption? Adoption fees for donkeys are $400 and $300 for mini horses and mules. That donkey will come gelded, microchipped with a temperature sensing chip, dewormed, feet trimmed, teeth check/floated, and the first vaccines.

6) How can we help the rescue? There are a number of ways you can help. Direct donations - we depend on donations to help feed the donkeys and pay for their medical and farrier care. We are also improving and expanding the rescue acreage and welcome donations property improvement. These improvements will help us save more donkeys and provide a better environment for those we have.

Send money to the feed store - We have an account at MFA Producers Exchange, 21127 US-65, Lincoln, MO 65338. Their number is: 660-547-3621. Amazon wish-list - we do have an amazon wish list, but we usually don't put things on it that can be obtained much cheaper locally. Volunteer - we realize that many followers live far away and cannot come volunteer. But for those who are nearby, we could definitely use help. We will take however much time you can give. We hope to have scheduled work weekends during good weather to do everything from cleaning stalls and working open house events to clearing land and building. Whatever your talents, I know we can find something to utilize them. Hopefully this answers some of the more common questions. Please do not hesitate to message with further questions.

$5 Friday: Tiny Horse, HUGE Second Chance! 💛🐴

Meet Studly, our resident dwarf mini horse—and proof that sometimes the tiniest rescues have the biggest personalities! 😄

Studly came to us from an auction skinny, with all of his hair shaved off, but he had one thing in abundance: attitude! This tiny horse was definitely not short on confidence. 😂

After gaining weight, Studly began battling recurring sinus infections. We treated them with antibiotics, but they kept coming back. Eventually, he developed a severe infection that made breathing difficult.

We took him to MU, where we discovered something unusual—Studly's molars were growing to the size of regular horse teeth! They needed to be removed, and thankfully, Studly came through the procedure beautifully. ❤️

Today, this little guy is happy, healthy, and has an important job as part of our education team. He lives in Tiny Town with several little donkeys and absolutely LOVES greeting new visitors.

From a skinny, shaved auction rescue to a sweet little ambassador who welcomes people at PPDR—look how far Studly has come! 🥰

This $5 Friday, help us be there for the next donkey—or tiny horse—who needs a second chance.

💛 Your $5 helps provide the food, veterinary care, medications, and daily necessities that turn rescue stories into happy endings.

Because every animal deserves the chance to go from surviving to thriving. 🐴💛

Some of you may remember Clarissa from a few months ago. She was just a tiny, injured baby when she first came to us, after being rejected by her mother. Today, we wanted to share a little update on how our sweet girl is doing! 🥰🐴

Clarissa's wounds were cleaned and bandaged when she arrived, and thankfully, they have been healing nicely. She took to the equine formula pretty quickly and has continued to grow stronger. She is still enjoying her milk replacer, but she's now nibbling on hay and even having a little grain.

And if you were wondering about her personality… well, Clarissa has definitely decided she is going to keep everyone on their toes! 😂

She is ornery, playful, and full of personality. She loves attention and especially loves giving kisses to her human momma. After everything this little girl went through, seeing her happy, curious, and playful is exactly what we hoped for. ❤️

Clarissa is the 7th donkey baby I've had the privilege of raising as a donkey child, and she has certainly made herself at home.

As for her mom, we may never know what she experienced throughout her own life. She simply had no interest in being a mother. We can't change what happened before Clarissa came to us, but we can make sure this little girl grows up knowing what love, safety, and kindness feel like.

We're so proud of how far Clarissa has come, and we'll continue to share updates as she grows.

From a tiny, injured baby who needed someone to step in… to this playful little girl who loves cuddles and kisses. 💕

Keep growing, Clarissa. Your story is just beginning. 🥰🐴

Happy Monday from the donkeys of Peaceful Pastures Donkey Rescue! 🫏💛

A new week is here, and the herd is ready to greet it with their usual combination of curiosity, calmness, and a very strong interest in anything that might possibly be a treat!

The donkeys have a simple Monday message for you today: don't forget to enjoy the little things. A quiet morning, a good friend, a warm sunbeam, a gentle scratch behind the ears, or simply having someone nearby who makes you feel safe — sometimes those little moments are the ones that mean the most.

Here at PPDR, we get to witness those moments every day. Seeing a donkey who once knew fear finally relax, make friends, enjoy a meal, or happily walk up for attention is a beautiful reminder that good things can come with time, patience, and love.

So whatever this week brings, take it one step at a time. Don't rush the journey, celebrate the small victories, and remember to make room for a little happiness along the way.

From all of our long-eared friends to you, have a peaceful Monday and a wonderful week ahead! 💕

$5 Friday: Sometimes, We Just Need to Sit With Them 💛🫏

Some moments at Peaceful Pastures don't involve rescuing, feeding, or doing chores.

Sometimes, it's simply sitting down and resting with the donkeys. 🥰

There’s something special about being surrounded by donkeys who feel safe enough to relax beside you. Their quiet presence, gentle nudges, and curious faces have a way of making the world slow down for a little while.

For many of these donkeys, learning to trust people again took time. So moments like this mean more than just a peaceful afternoon—they're a reminder of how far they've come. ❤️

This $5 Friday, we're asking you to help us continue providing the food, hay, medical care, and daily necessities that make these peaceful moments possible.

💛 Your $5 helps give our donkeys the safe, happy life they deserve—and gives us more moments like this to cherish.

Because sometimes the best part of rescue isn't what we do for them...

It's simply being there with them. 🫏💛

🚨 PLEASE HELP US REPORT THIS PAGE! 🚨

We need your help protecting Peaceful Pastures Donkey Rescue and our supporters.

We have found another page using our name, and they are stealing our photos and videos and presenting them as their own. While the name may look similar, this is NOT our page.

Please look closely at the differences:

❌ The page shown in this post is NOT PPDR.
❌ The address is different.
❌ The phone number is different.
❌ Their follower count and page history are completely different.
❌ They are using content that belongs to the real Peaceful Pastures Donkey Rescue.

✅ Our official PPDR page has the META Verified badge.
✅ We have 25,000+ followers and thousands of posts documenting our actual rescue work.
✅ Our official information and contact details match what we have shared with you previously.

We are asking our amazing supporters to please REPORT this page to Facebook for impersonation and stolen content.

Please do not send them donations, personal information, or payment. And please don't engage with them directly. Reporting the page is the best way to help.

If you've been following us for a while, you know how much time, heart, and work goes into every photo, video, rescue update, and story we share. Seeing our content copied and used by another page is incredibly frustrating, especially because we never want our supporters to be misled.

Happy Monday from the donkeys of Peaceful Pastures Donkey Rescue! 🫏💛

The herd wanted to start your week with a little reminder about something they know very well: the importance of good friends.

Donkeys are incredibly social animals, and having a buddy by their side can make all the difference. Whether they're standing together in the pasture, sharing a shady spot, grooming each other, or simply keeping one another company, these gentle souls find comfort in being part of a herd.

Here at PPDR, we love seeing friendships develop between donkeys who may have once been scared, lonely, or unsure of their surroundings. Watching them learn to trust, relax, and enjoy the company of their new friends is one of the sweetest parts of rescue.

So this Monday, the donkeys have a little challenge for you: check in on a friend. Send someone a message, give someone a hug, or simply let them know you're thinking about them. You never know how much that little gesture might mean.

From our herd to yours, we're wishing you a Monday filled with friendship, kindness, and plenty of reasons to smile.

Have a wonderful week! 💕🫏

💛 $5 Friday: Every Donkey Deserves a Good Day 💛🫏

At Peaceful Pastures, rescue isn't just about getting a donkey out of a bad situation. It's about giving them a **good life afterward**.

A safe pasture to explore. 🌱
Friends to share it with. 🫏🫏
A full belly of hay. 🌾
A soft place to rest.
And people who make sure they know they are loved. ❤️

Some of our donkeys spent years simply surviving. Now, they get to enjoy the little things—rolling in the dirt, playing with their friends, waiting for treats, soaking up the sunshine, and being their wonderfully goofy donkey selves.

That's what your support makes possible.

This $5 Friday, your donation helps provide the everyday care that allows our donkeys to do more than survive—they get to live.

💛 Give $5 today and help make another good day possible for a donkey at PPDR.

Because sometimes, a second chance isn't just about saving a life.

It's about giving them a life worth living.🫏💛

We saw so many of you getting the answer right on our Wilbur trivia, so it's time to officially reveal the answer!

Waffles was the very first donkey rescued by Peaceful Pastures Donkey Rescue. And honestly, you could say that everything we are today started with one special donkey named Waffles.

What began with rescuing Waffles grew into a mission to help so many more donkeys in need. His story opened our eyes to the heartbreaking reality so many donkeys face, and he became the beginning of what would eventually become Peaceful Pastures.

Then came Wilbur, our second rescue... and the rest, as they say, is history.

For those of you who have been with us for years, thank you. Truly. You have watched this rescue grow, followed the stories, cheered for the donkeys, shared our posts, donated, volunteered, and helped us keep going through the hard days. We are so incredibly grateful to have you with us. 💛

And for those who are new here—welcome!

This is where it all started.

Before the big herd, before all the pasture adventures, before all the rescue stories you see today, there was Waffles. One donkey who changed everything.

And maybe that's the beautiful thing about rescue. You never know when helping one animal will become the beginning of something much bigger.

💬 Were you here when Waffles was the beginning of PPDR?
If you've been following us for a long time, tell us how long you've been part of the Peaceful Pastures family!

And if you're new, say "Hi!" We'd love to welcome you. 🫏💛

Happy Monday from Wilbur, our SECOND donkey rescue! 🫏💛

Good morning, everyone! Sweet Wilbur is here to kick off your week with a big donkey hello and a little trip down memory lane.

Did you know that Wilbur was the second donkey ever rescued by Peaceful Pastures Donkey Rescue? He holds a very special place in PPDR history and has been part of the journey from the very beginning. From those early days of rescue to the pasture we have today, Wilbur has seen so much change — and he continues to be one of the special souls who reminds us why this work matters so much.

And today, Wilbur has a little Monday game for you!

🫏 DONKEY TRIVIA TIME! 🫏

Can you remember who was the donkey rescued BEFORE Wilbur?

We want to see who knows their PPDR history! Drop your answer in the comments — no peeking at the old posts! 😉

We'll be watching to see who gets it right! And while you're thinking, Wilbur would like to remind you that being an early PPDR rescue comes with one very important responsibility: making sure everyone knows how adorable you are.

So from Wilbur and all of us at Peaceful Pastures Donkey Rescue, we hope your Monday is filled with good memories, happy moments, and plenty of reasons to smile.

Good luck with the trivia, and have a wonderful Monday! 💛

$5 Friday: One Donkey Started It All 💛🫏

Before Peaceful Pastures Donkey Rescue became home to hundreds of donkeys, there was Waffles.

What began as a simple trip to find a donkey for Beth’s daughter changed everything. At an auction, Beth met Waffles—a neglected donkey with painfully overgrown hooves who desperately needed someone to see her.

Beth brought Waffles home. Then came Wilbur, and through him, Beth learned about the heartbreaking world of auctions and kill pens and the many donkeys facing uncertain futures.

Then came the day she rescued 22 donkeys from a kill pen.

That was the moment Beth knew this wasn't just about one donkey anymore. It was a mission.

And today, that mission continues at Peaceful Pastures. Every donkey who arrives represents another life that needs hay, feed, medical care, patience, and love.

This $5 Friday, your donation can help Beth continue saying YES to donkeys who need a second chance.

💛 Just $5 can help provide the daily care that makes rescue possible—from hay and feed to medications and everything in between.

One donkey started it all.

Imagine how many more lives we can change together. 🫏💛
