Garden tips with everyday products. I am going to try the epsom salt.

• Seedlings in a lemon or toilet paper tube.
• WD40 for cleaning garden tools or spray vinegar, cover and spray again, and leave to dry for two hours. Soak in water and baking soda and then scrub.
• Use milk jugs to cover baby plant to protect from frost.
• Epsom salt to make seeds grow faster. Teaspoon in every hole then Epsom and water spray.
• Your bouquet of roses-one inch stem coat with cinnamon and insert into potato.
• Save packing peanuts. Better than crushed terracotta for drainage. Use diapers too.
• Scatter eggshells around your plant.
• Cleaning solution-rubbing alcohol, water, and vinegar.
• Homemade watering can- poke holes in milk jug top.
• Sprinkle salt to kill w**ds.
• Soak seeds in water for at least 24 hours prior to planting them.
• Freeze herbs-remove stems, chop as desired, pack ice cube trays with 2/3 herbs and pour melted butter or EVO, freeze, and store in freezer containers.
• Save your green onion bulb place in water, roots will grow, then plant.
• Use beer in a bowl to get rid of slugs.
• Use one tbs of canola oil and dish soap into 8oz. of water and spray for bugs on plants.

Here’s a little of Florida I share.

It's that time of the year to get ready for this! We are looking for donations, such as bags of potting soil, nice pots for our annual planters, perennials, lawn art, and houseplants. For any contributions reach me at [email protected] or FB message me.

🌱 Something is growing at CCE Livingston County — and we want to share it with you.

Join us for our Plant Swap & Share
on Earth Day, April 22 — a free community event where gardeners of all experience levels come together to trade divisions, cuttings, seeds, and starts from their own yards and gardens.

Bring what you can spare. Take home something new. No experience required, and you don’t have to bring something to receive something.

📅 April 22, 2026 — Earth Day
🕙 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
📍 CCE Livingston County, 3 Murray Hill Drive, Mount Morris

Plus: Pick up our FREE Plant Sharing Biosecurity Guide — a developed resource on how to inspect plants before you share them, identify common pests and diseases, and avoid spreading invasive species.

All are welcome. Tell a neighbor. 🌿

People are asking me how was our spring meeting. Consensus for all present was YES to Adopt A Planter program and that our club will manage it.
We plan to have a meeting with the village to establish a criteria that we both agree upon.

What we would like to see:
*We will provide a list of various foliages and flowers to plant for uniformity.
*We all agreed to a red, white, and blue theme for Semiquincentennial, this year.
*We would even possibly provide our services for a small donated fee, such as w**ding. The task we all don’t love to do, but is necessary for keeping the planters beautiful.
*We would like to provide our expertise with proper soil composition, suggested w**d prevention products, fertilization techniques, and watering schedules to help assure success in growth.
*We will provide a recognition sign to display personalization layout and pride.

We suggest more than one adopter (2 families or 2 businesses)for a planter because of upkeep. There will be a sign-up form and first come first serve selection by the club.
