PLEASE NOTE: WE AREN'T THE SHELTER OR A RESCUE. We introduce the animals in our local shelter to the public, encourage ADOPTION, network with rescues & identify resources. This page is NOT run by the shelter - it's managed by local animal advocates whose objective is to expose the animals at our County shelter to as many individuals and rescues as possible in hopes of finding them good homes or re

scue. Friends of the Harnett County Animal Shelter is NOT a rescue. MANY OF OUR ANIMALS POSTED HAVE VERY LITTLE TIME, SO IT'S CRITICAL to act quickly if you see an animal you're interested in. If you have specific questions about an animal, please call the shelter at (910) 814-2952. Be aware that they will not hold an animal or process an adoption via telephone. The shelter staff does a great job at keeping their website current with the status of available and adopted animals. New animals are added nearly every business day. http://harnett.org/ac/

While this is NOT a gassing shelter, it is very small and therefore animals can be held for only a minimal amount of time, usually no longer than one week. Please be honest and constructive with your posts. Please see our "Notes" about pledges, about fostering and about monetary gifts for further elaboration. Copying the posts on this page to promote the animals on other sites is encouraged. However please include that you are functioning as a cross poster and are NOT owner/manager/admin of this site. Hello friends, good news….the shelter has had a lot of dog adoptions!
This dog is the final dog left at the shelter. The shelter closes at 4:00 today and will be open 9:00-4:00 tomorrow. They are closed on Friday and Monday.
Also, thank you to everyone who has reached out with their concerns regarding recent findings at the shelter. The animals at the shelter need our support now more than ever! 🐶💜🐱

🎉 Adoption Update: and just like that he's adopted! Happy gotcha day Kylo🎉

🚨 Last Dog in the Shelter! 🚨

Meet Kylo, our final canine resident waiting for a home! 🐾

Kylo is a 4-year-old neutered male Australian Shepherd mix who is smart, handsome, and ready to leave shelter life behind. He already knows several tricks and loves showing off just how clever he is. As an Aussie mix, he enjoys staying active and engaged, whether that's learning new things, playing, or spending time with his people.

After watching all of his shelter friends find homes, Kylo is the last dog still waiting for his turn. We'd love nothing more than to see him sleeping on a couch instead of in a kennel.

Let's help Kylo be the next—and final—adoption story! Share his post, tell your friends, and come meet this amazing boy.

❤️ 4 years old
❤️ Neutered male
❤️ Australian Shepherd mix
❤️ Knows tricks
❤️ Ready for his forever home

Who wants to help us empty the dog kennels and send Kylo home? 🏡🐕
