β€οΈπ€π Honoring Juneteenth ππ€β€οΈ
Today, we recognize Juneteenth, a day that commemorates June 19, 1865, when the last enslaved African Americans in Texas learned of their freedom more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued.
Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom, resilience, hope, and the ongoing journey toward equality. It is also a reminder of the importance of learning from history and honoring the strength of those who persevered through unimaginable challenges.
At the Village, we believe healing begins with understanding, compassion, and connection. Just as healing is a journey for the youth we serve, Juneteenth reminds us that growth and progress are often built through courage, perseverance, and community. By learning about one another's stories and experiences, we create spaces where everyone feels valued, respected, and heard.
Today, we celebrate freedom, reflect on our shared history, and recommit ourselves to building a future rooted in hope, dignity, and opportunity for all. β¨
