Beautiful Sky is waiting for a home of her own!
Sky is an 8-year-old purebred Alaskan Malamute who loves her people BIG. She is an extremely sweet, loving, and outgoing girl who would thrive in an adult-only home where she can truly be the queen of the house. Sky does not do well with female dogs, but would love nothing more than a large male dog to romp around with all day. Sky has gone through several years of obedience training, is crate trained, and does well with indoor cats. She isn’t without her quirks (who is?). Sky needs to be fed separately and should be left alone when enjoying snacks or toys. She does have some resource guarding tendencies, but does very well when her boundaries are respected. Due to her size and strong Malamute personality traits, an adult-only home is required. Sky loves people deeply, but she doesn’t always realize how big and powerful she is when excited or overwhelmed.

Sky needs a home where she can be the main focus, with plenty of exercise, structure, and love. What you pour into her, she will pour right back with snuggles, kisses, paw holding, lots of Malamute “songs,” and a lifetime of loyalty and love. Sky is looking for a new home because she is no longer getting along with the female dog in the home and has not adjusted well to life with young toddlers.Sky previously required a daily medication to help control her bladder, but after losing some weight she has no longer needed medication. She has a clean bill of health, is spayed, and is up to date on vaccinations.

If you think Sky may be the best friend you’ve been searching for, please contact Emma Schollmeyer at 573-301-3313. We are located in Central Missouri but are willing to travel to find Sky the perfect home. $150 rehoming fee.

"Biologically, a healthy female dog can produce over 10 litters, totaling 50 to 100+ puppies in a lifetime." And this is (sadly) an incredibly low estimate. So, do you want to help us save 100 puppies? Then help us spay one Mama! We have been helping with spay/neuter in underserved areas, we have fixed a total of 139 pets since we started outreach in 2021 (26 dogs so far in 2026). Rescues do not have the space for all the ones in need. Please help with our S/N fund - you will be helping every overflowing rescue out there! PayPal [email protected]

TOM is safe! Thanks to our wonderful supporters, we were able to sponsor his neuter and vet package for shots, hw test, etc. Big thanks to Gloria for getting him off the streets! He is thankfully HW negative, but does have erlichia and will be started on doxy. The rescue taking him is renaming him Milo. We are thrilled that he is off the streets and will get fixed up and get a great home! Thanks everyone. Please continue to support our spay/neuter efforts so we can help the next Tom! Pet overpopulation really is a HUGE crisis. IAMRA is trying to help with our Spay/Neuter outreach....every one fixed NOW, means dozens less in need down the road. You can help us make a difference! Paypal [email protected]

Read that headline again.

"City's stray crisis is so bad dogs were airlifted ahead of World Cup."

Let that sink in.

Not because the dogs suddenly started suffering. Not because rescues just started asking for help. Not because shelters suddenly became overcrowded.

This crisis has existed for years. For years rescuers have been sounding the alarm.

For years shelters have been overflowing.
For years dogs have been dumped on roads, abandoned in neighborhoods, born under houses, living in fields, alleys, and vacant lots.

But now the world is coming to Texas.
And suddenly the crisis is impossible to ignore.

Before anyone twists my words, let me be clear: I am grateful for every dog that got on that plane. Every single one.
I hope every one of them finds the loving home they deserve.

But the fact that dogs needed to be flown across the country to make room in shelters should tell us something.

The problem isn't the dogs.
The problem is the endless supply of dogs.

The problem is irresponsible breeding.
The problem is abandonment.
The problem is communities producing more animals than they can responsibly care for.

The problem is years of looking the other way.

You can fly hundreds of dogs out.
You can fly thousands of dogs out.

But if nothing changes at the source, tomorrow there will be more. And the next day there will be more. And the day after that there will be more.

The goal should never be to make the crisis less visible. The goal should be to end the crisis. Because the dogs were always there. The world is only just now noticing.

The world shouldn't have to visit Texas before Texas decides its dogs matter.

This little husky boy in TX, Sky, will NOT be making any babies thanks to those who are supporting our S/N efforts! The situation is dire for our husky cousins, every husky rescue is full, and many are closed to intakes right now ;-( We need to help them, and others in need, things are pretty bad in rescue everywhere these days. Every one we can fix now, means dozens that won't need rescue next year. Sky is S/N number 26 for us this year....we would LOVE to hit 100 by year end. A $5 monthly donation really makes a difference! PayPal [email protected]
