The Rufus Relief Fund

Hello friends! It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you that after the end of this month (or funds run out...) The Rufus Relief Fund will be dissolved.

It has been my honor to have assisted over 2 dozen pets (dogs and cats) over the last 2 years that we have been fundraising. I am so grateful to each and every one of you who has stepped up to help others.

Unforunately, fundraising is very difficult in the current climate and economy. Since we run purely on donations, we simply can't help from an empty account.

We are still in the process of assisting a couple of dogs and some puppies, and will be seeing that to completion of course! We will not however be accepting any new applications for assistance. Any remaining funds after the current dogs are healthy will be going to local rescues.

Thank you again for all of your generosity and support over the last 2 years.

Fireworks are already being seen and heard, so please do your part to keep your pet safe during this week/weekend! 🎇

More pets go missing around the Fourth of July than any other time of the year. 👏🏼AND IT IS PREVENTABLE.👏🏼

Animal control agencies and shelters nationwide see a 30% to 60% surge in lost pets between July 4th and 6th, as the flashing lights and loud, booming sounds of fireworks trigger a "fight or flight" panic response.

Please see some handy tips below for keeping your pets safe. Make sure they’re chipped and the chip info is current as well!

And for those of you whose neighbors may have horses, livestock or other outdoor animals, please just be a good neighbor and let them know if you’re gonna be setting off fireworks so that they can at least have a heads up and try to prepare and do what they can. (Even better, go do them somewhere farther away from animals or go enjoy one of the local professional shows).

Friends of RRF!

Meet sweet Quincy. This beautiful 8 year old standard poodle took a tumble down a flight of stairs and tore a ligament in her back left knee.

We are hopeful that with rest and pain meds, Quincy won’t need surgery.

RRF has covered Quincy’s initial imaging and pain meds already. We would appreciate any donations towards that. As always, we love to replace the funds as we spend them so that we can automatically say yes the next time someone needs our help.

With only 2 hours left….we are at $1,750 of our $7,500 goal.

I had hoped I wasn’t being too optimistic on the $7,500 number….only $2,500 more than last year. I may have been wrong. 😢

There’s still time! This is the biggest fundraiser of the year for us.

I’m not going to sugar coat it. This is not good.

I can’t continue The Rufus Relief Fund without help. The last 3 dogs that we covered vet bills for brought in ZERO donations. I was hoping to replenish some funds through this giving event. At this rate though….

I’m so thankful to the generous folks who have donated this far! And we have a LONG WAY TO GO before 6:00 pm tonight to reach our goal.

📣📣📣TODAY IS THE DAY!📣📣📣

Amplify Austin  starts today and ends tomorrow at 6pm. This is one of the biggest fundraisers every year for many nonprofits, including the Rufus Relief Fund.

Last year, the $5,000 that we got in donations allowed us to help several pets throughout the rest of the year. We were able to immediately say YES and step in and help instead of having to get donations. As you know, in an emergency situation with a pet, time as of the essence!

🙌🏻THIS YEAR OUR GOAL IS $7,500. 🙌🏻

Every dollar helps. We have donation levels as low as $5.00. We would also love if anyone works with a corporation who participates in Amplify Austin, so please let them know about us!

We are also entered into a matching program, so depending upon the amount of donations that we can get these next two days, we have the ability to bring in even more money through that. 🙏

Please share. Please donate. Please make it so I can say YES when someone’s beloved pet is in need.
