Ole North State Line Siders

Ole North State Line Siders The Striper Fishing Club that is all about, and will ALWAYS be about, keeping the FUN in competitive fishing.

We are simply a group of folks with a deep passion for chasing after Striped Bass. Our time spent on the water is pure sanctity from the grind that life throws at us on a weekly basis. We hold the species, the bodies of water that hold them, and the thrill of the catch in the highest of regards. From the months of September through May we host 9 tournaments, at 9 different lakes, in 4 different st

ates. All are welcome to join our group (upon approval) and/or join us at ANY of our tournaments. For more information visit our website at www.onsls.proboards.com

With the fall temperatures so comes the Striper season. Planer boards, live gizzards, lead core, and down riggers. It is now our time of year.

For the last 11 years we built a brand in our “Annual Benefit Tournament.” In that decade plus we have raised money for Susan G. Komen, The Workshop of Davidson County, and for the last 6 years, Hospice of Davidson County.

In that time we were able to benefit all the aforementioned charities and most proudly fund the children’s playground at Hospice House of DC.

Throughout those years of work we came into contact and became friends with more anglers, sponsors, volunteers, and donors than pages of text could ever fill. And for that we thank you all.

All this being said, there will not be a 12th Annual Tournament under the ONSLS banner. The goal of our event every year has been to give max effort for our partners, anglers, and beneficiaries. And I can honestly say we poured everything we had into it each year. Alas it is time for a fresh face with fresh ideas to take the wheel and hopefully continue to build on the foundation we have created.

Many thanks to our partners, sponsors, anglers, and volunteers. I genuinely love you all and hope to see you on the water soon.

The 2022 ONSLS Hospice of Davidson County Benefit Tournament brought about a bit of change in many aspects but much of the same in its finality.

There were new volunteers, new partners, new teams, and most importantly a new body of water to take on. Then there was also the familiarity of friendly faces, years of volunteering as well as partners, and ANOTHER stingy lake on the Yadkin Chain.

At 6:40am 30 teams comprised of 50 adult anglers and 5 youth set out to take on the waters of Badin Lake. A chilly morning would give way to warm sunny skies. For most that would be one of few things to take solace in. The bite was slow and finicky to say the least. In the end the best of the best rose to the top and was able to solve Badin's puzzle.

When the weigh in came to a close only 4 teams were able to bring a 2 fish limit to the scales and another 6 with just a single.

Team Gangsters (name coined at the scales) of Lane Baucom and his granddaughter would top the leaderboard with a 2 fish catch weighing 13.34 pounds anchored by a 7.32 pound fish that would give them BIG FISH honors as well

Team Reel Crazy piloted by father and son duo Jonathan and Hunter Hedrick placed second with a limit weighing 10.07 pounds.

Yadkin chain veteran Jerry Hill placed 3rd with his limit tipping the scales at 9.65 pounds.

In 4th place would be Team Bolo. Fishing alongside his loyal K-9 Rigs, Pete Malec brought in the final limit weighing 9.15. His largest fish, a 5.92 Striper was released alive and netted Bolo a Big Screen TV for the effort. Also being the top finisher of those entered BOLO also took the High Roller Side Pot.

Rounding out the top 5 and paying positions was Aaron Brewer with a single fish weighing 4.14 pounds.

And finally, congrats to Aiden Lambert of Team Mudmen for being the highest placing youth in the tournament netting him $50 and a new Mad Katz fishing rod.

Once again thank you to all of our partners, volunteers, and anglers. With all of you guys support we were able to raise $2000.00 for Hospice of Davidson County!

ONSLS would like to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a blessed holiday season.

Cold front, cold temperatures, and downright COLD HEARTED…...
These terms as well as many more could be used to describe the conditions the men, women, and youth faced on Saturday November 27th.

As always, High Rock Lake never cooperates…..

26 Teams comprised of 46 anglers assembled before daylight for the 10th Annual ONSLS Striper Tournament benefitting Hospice of Davidson County. And coming off of a red hot bite in the 2 weeks leading up, expectations were at a peak! However “The Rock” and Mother Nature, in the form of a high pressure/ cold front had other things to say about that.

The who’s who of Striper fishing in the area threw everything they had at the stubborn fish for over 8 hours. And at days end, the who’s who rose to the occasion.

When all was said and done it took but ONE BITE to take home the title! Barry Cheek and Dean Smith weighed in a single fish at 15.2 pounds taking 1st place honors as well as Big Fish worth over $1800.00!

Just behind them was Rob Steele and David Woodward. Boasting the tournaments only 2 fish limit, Team Double Trouble took home $700 plus in cash and prizes!

Team Next Wave capped off the “podium” with a single fish weighing 9 pounds, 2 ounces. That catch was worth the guaranteed $400 + for 3rd. However Steve Barrow, Brian Quick, and Dennis Barrow chose to be gamblers and entered the “High Roller” Side Pot. Being the top finishing team entered earned Next Wave another $850.00! And lastly, by releasing their catch ALIVE, they were awarded another $100 as well as a pair of Costa Sunglasses!

Placing 4th would be another Yadkin Chain Veteran as well as longtime tournament sponsor Jerry Hill. His fish weighing 8.7 was worth over $200 in cash and prizes.

And rounding out the Top 5 finishers was Brad York. His catch of 7.6 earned him $100 in cash as well as prizes.

As always we are most thankful for the sponsors, volunteers, participants, etc. that make this event so special. What started out as radio chatter and an “idea” has become a TRADITION and something all of us can be proud of. In our 10 years we raised over $2000.00 for Breast Cancer Research and Support, $1000.00 in support of the Workshop of Davidson County, and have been the stalwart for building a playground at Hospice of Davidson County. That being said we will be pledging another $1900.00 installment in our 10th Anniversary Tournament in memory of Arlena Edwards.
