Slow Food UKY

Slow Food UKY The Slow Food movement began in the late 1980s by an Italian journalist and food advocate named Carlo Patrini.

Patrini was unsatisfied with the state of the international food system he was increasingly faced with and started Slow Food with the hope of addressing and counteracting what he believed to be an ailing system. In the years since its conception Slow Food international has risen to over 100,000 supporters, with more than 100 national branches, and hundreds of local chapters in the United States. I

nternational and Local groups are equally important to the movement. Slow Food international creates a network of united individuals that recognize food issues as global problems that require an extensive support system. Still, local chapters are just as vital because they recognize that communities have unique needs and it is the job of local branches to identify and create projects in those directions.
