Months after his last chemo and a visit to his family physician Wyatt remarked to hi
s grandfather how he wished there was a treasure chest for 4 West (ped oncology unit). If the regular doctor’s office had one, it was a shame that the hospital didn’t have one, because the tests and medicines were much worse in the hospital. Wyatt and his grandfather designed and built a treasure chest, and dedicated it to the University of Kentucky Children’s Hospital in December 2014. Since 2014, Wyatt and his grandfather have added 7 treasure chests. The chests are cheerfully painted with child-inspired art and equipped with wheels. Our treasure chest(s) on wheels are filled with various toys and other treasures monthly, or on an as-needed basis. Five of the prize chests are conveniently located at nurse’s stations at the University of Kentucky Children’s Hospital and operated by the pediatric nurses. The 6th chest serves the Pediatric Infusion Clinic located at the Kentucky Clinic. Chest #7 is located at Fort Logan ER in Stanford, KY. The chests are available for pediatric patients 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. Each chest has the ability to visit brave patients after medicines, procedures or just when they need to be cheered up. Wyatt's Warriors Toy Chest operates solely on donations and is a recognized Charitable 501(3)C. All donations are considered tax deductible. Contact Us: [email protected]
