TOMORROW! For parents and caregivers of current Cotting students ages 16 and older. This is the second of two online sessions presented by Lisa Sheehy, a Public Benefits & Health Policy Specialist at the MA Department of Public Health, Division for Children & Youth with Special Health Needs. TOMORROW! Parents and caregivers are invited to join Cotting School Family Support and Engagement Coordinator Naomi Zuckerman and CTI Program Manager Erika Cain for a monthly group meeting centered on resources for transition planning! These are open groups where parents and caregivers can come together for conversations related to your young adult’s transition.

This month’s meeting will be an in-person panel of alumni parents/caregivers, who will speak about the path their young adult has taken post-high school. We will have a variety of options being spoken about, from day programs to residential housing to self-directed programming. If you are an alumni parent yourself, feel free to come to listen and connect with other alumni parents on the highs and lows of post-high school life and programming. If you are a parent or caregiver to an under 22-year-old, please come to learn more about what happens after high school from the “professionals” themselves. Bring questions about available resources and paths, share tips about what has worked and seek advice about things that you need support with.

Cotting School alumni and Cotting Transition Institute (CTI) members and participants had a terrific time catching up, making new friends and dancing under the sea at the Alumni & CTI Semi-Formal. Special shout-out to Cotting student Jacob G., who was an amazing DJ and kept everyone on the dance floor all night! We’re already looking forward to next year’s semi-formal.
