On Saturday at the launch event I gave a speech about why I created Liam’s Light Foundation. I am posting it below for those that couldn’t attend. I cried through the majority of giving this speech and I hope it touches your hearts the way it touches mine 🤍
Hi everyone, and thank you so much for being here today.
This foundation is called Liam’s Light, and it is named after my son.
If you know Liam, then you know exactly why I chose that name. He is full of light. He walks into a room and people are immediately drawn to him. He is joyful, loving, special, and sees the world in such a unique and beautiful way. Being his mom has completely changed me.
Liam was diagnosed with level 3 nonverbal autism at the age of 3. I remember sitting through his evaluation, watching the therapists take notes and realizing he wasn’t doing everything expected of a typical child.
At the end, we were told he would need substantial support throughout life. We were told he might not make friends, might not talk, and might not show love the way a typical child would.
Then we were handed a binder and sent home.
A lifelong diagnosis… and all we got was a binder.
But over time, things became more hopeful. Liam is bright. He is loving. He does make friends and he connects with us in his own beautiful and intentional way.
He recently graduated ABA therapy, and we are incredibly proud of how far he has come.
But one thing we learned through this journey is that so many families feel alone while trying to navigate autism, therapies, resources, and support systems.
That is why I created Liam’s Light Foundation.
Our mission is to support and uplift families navigating autism through financial assistance, resources, and compassionate community support.
If this mission moves you to support, share, or simply believe in what we are building, it truly means the world to our family.
Liam is my light, and my hope is that through this foundation, his light can reach families who need it most.
Thank you for being here, and thank you for believing in this journey with us.
