The last 2 weekends have been busy celebrating our veterans in many ways. I would like to thank Tiger Mart, Griswold Car Wash, Farmer's Diner, Plaza Aztec, 2nd St Auto, Henningsen Meat, Atlantic News Telegraph, The Porch, The Salty Dog, Struther Brothers, Harley Davidson, Guillroys, The Machine Shed, for supplying prizes for our 1st annual veteran Christmas Bingo party. Thank you to the Griswold HS Foods classes for making bars and the Griswold Legion Auxiliary for bringing cookies.

Thank you to the CB American Legion Riders, CVMA, the Red Oak Legion, the Red Oak Fire and Police Dept for honoring our veterans with the Flags For Vets mission presentation.

Thank you to everyone who made the holiday special for our veterans by filling bags or donating items to create the household care packages (which will be delivered this week). Thank you to Atlantic Ag and Auto, Cappels, Tractor Supply, Rolling Hills Bank, and Houghton State Bank for being our drop off locations.

This has been a such a humbling and special Christmas celebrating so many people. We would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. Enjoy the Christmas video sent to Nick and those he is serving with on their joint mission. Stay safe and happy holidays.

Today was a special day as we started delivering the Christmas bags to our veterans in the nursing homes. Thank you to everyone who took a bag and filled it. With your support we were able to fill a total of 40 bags. Thank you to IA National Guard troop Nick W. and the other service members who were able to take some time to wish our first group of veterans a Merry Christmas. Thank you to our last group of veterans who sent Nick and his troops a Christmas video as they were unable to connect as they were getting ready for a mission. MERRY CHRISTMAS, thank you for your service.

So not that my mom has enough on her plate already. We were talking and I asked her if we could do a veteran Christmas party. She asked what I had in mind and I told her Bingo. I wanted to have an event where veterans could network with each other. With the help of mom, we are having our first veteran Christmas Bingo party. Please join us Sunday, December 14 at 1pm at the Griswold Community Center for snacks, drinks, prizes and comradery.

Thanks to the CB American Legion Riders for agreeing to do a Christmas edition of the Flags to Vets ceremony. After the bingo, those that are able to join us will do a practice walk through and drive to Red Oak to join members there. We will proceed to Arlington Nursing Home to present these 4 with their flag, dog tags and a card (including a 99 WWII Navy Scouts and Raiders). After the ceremony, I will present them with their Christmas bags from our Adopt-A-Veteran program.

Down to the last week. Out of 40 veterans we have 5 left to be adopted for Christmas. Thank you to everyone that has already adopted a vet. Please dont forget to try to have the bags returned by this Sunday. Totally understand if you ordered something and delivery gets delayed we can arrange pickup when it arrives. Bags 37-40 will be delivered Dec 14 and the remaining on Dec 20. Below are the 5 remaining veterans.

All drop off boxes have been placed. I received the final 4 veterans slips today and placed them out at Tractor Supply. We have had an incridble response to the boxes so far this year. I don't have an official number as of today but out of 40 veterans, I believe there are only about 17 left to be spoken for.
