๐๐๐This evening, members of the Leoti FFA Chapter traveled to Ingalls for this yearโs SW District Banquet. District Banquet is an annual celebration of chapter and individual successes and Leoti FFA Members were recognized for the following achievements:
๐ป๐จ๏ธ๐Sophia Wedel was awarded the district proficiency award in Ag Services for her work at Out West Farm and Crop Insurance Agency. Sophia has submitted her application to the state level and will find out in the coming weeks if she was selected as a state finalist. If selected as a state finalist, she will be recognized on stage at Kansas State FFA Convention and will have the opportunity to move on to the national level.๐ฅ
๐ ๐๐๐ The Senior Livestock Judging team, Savanna Hanson, Colton Hanson, and Faith Marcy were recognized for their win last month with the Eddy Koonce Memorial Trophy. Mr. Koonce was the agriculture teacher and FFA advisor at Elkhart for many years and passed away in 2020. In 2021, a memorial award was created by the Southwest district in honor of his work with youth and their livestock projects both in Elkhart FFA and Morton County 4-H. It is a huge honor to receive this memorial award. The senior livestock team will compete in a few short weeks at the state contest in Manhattan. ๐ฅ
๐๐พ๐The Leoti FFA Chapter was recognized as a district Superior Chapter for our activities hosted by the chapter. This application process was completed by Savanna Hanson and Sophia Wedel, detailing chapter activities that occur in 15 different areas. Each of the areas fall into one of three categories: Strengthening Agriculture, Building Communities, and Growing Leaders. This application has also been submitted to the state level and we will receive results in late May. ๐
Congratulations to Leoti FFA members. These are huge accomplishments and are just the beginning! I am incredibly proud of the work that these members have done in order to receive these merits.
