Sometimes the hardest stories are the shortest ones.
This is Mocha 🤍
She came into our care just days ago—tiny, fragile, and only 2 pounds at nearly a year old. Some of you may have met her briefly in the Meow Dyer Cat Cafe, LLC lounge over the weekend, while we were still working to understand what she needed.
After being evaluated by a veterinarian, it was suspected that Mocha had a congenital liver shunt—a condition that prevents the body from properly filtering toxins and can affect the brain.
This morning, she took a sudden and severe turn. She became disoriented and began to struggle, and it was clear she was in critical condition. We brought her to the vet right away, and the kindest, most compassionate decision we could make was to let her go peacefully.
Mocha was only with us for a short time, but she was safe, cared for, and not alone. For those who met her, you gave her something special in her final days—gentleness, warmth, and love.
Not every rescue story has the ending we hope for. But every cat who comes through our doors matters, no matter how brief their time is.
Thank you for continuing to support the work that allows us to say yes to cats like Mocha—especially the ones who need us most.
