On Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 18:34 hours, Lenore VFD Units were alerted by Mingo County 911 to respond to call 26-07904 for a Residential structure fire.

Lenore VFD responded with Rescue 493 (staffed by 3) Engine 495 (staffed by 3),Engine 496 (staffed by 2) as well as 6 POVs, totaling 14 LVFD personnel.

Lenore VFD’s initial scene size-up reported a Residential structure that was fully engulfed. Kermit VFD made the initial knock on the fire. Lenore assisted with water supply and manpower as well as fire attack. All Departments assisted with overhaul.

Lenore 400 units were clear of the scene and back in service by 20:34.

The LVFD would like the thank everyone that came out for the Chief Skip Farris Memorial Ride. We hope everyone had a great time. Thank you to everyone that bought Tee Shirts, hot dogs.
We would also like to congratulate Kayla Sheppard for winning the YETI Cooler.
We hope to see everyone again next year.
If anyone has pictures please put them in the comments. I'm sure everyone would like to see them.

The Lenore Vol. Fire Dept is having a Memorial Ride for Skip. It will be on August 8th, 2026. Starting at 1:00 PM,
in the old Mary's Diner parking lot.
It's $10.00 for the driver and $5.00 a passenger.
There will be a drawing for a YETI Cooler. Tickets will be $15.00 a ticket.
We are also selling shirts. (Pictured below). Sizes S - XL are $15.00 and 2XL and up are $17.00. These must be prepaid for.
Also selling hot dogs at 1 of the stops.

The Lenore Volunteer Fire Department would like to thank everyone who came out to our 4th of July Celebration last night!
We would also like to give a big thank you to Bev and Robert from Cheech's, Keefers Powersports Superstore for the dirt bike donation, Mooney and Donavan for the great music, and all of the different vendors who showed up to celebrate with us.
We wanted to give a special thank you to all of the members who have worked tirelessly for the last week to be able to put this on for our community.
Like many others, we spent the day remembering our chief, Skip, and how much we missed him. We saved a chili dog for you!

We hope to see everyone next year! 🇺🇸
