It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we the Lenore Volunteer Fire Department announce the passing of a true pillar of the Lenore, West Virginia community — Chief Jeffery Skip Farris.

For more than 40 years, Skip dedicated his life to serving and protecting others through the fire service. His leadership, courage, and unwavering commitment to the people of Lenore & Mingo County touched countless lives and helped shape generations of firefighters and community members alike.

More than a fire chief, he was a mentor, a friend, and a symbol of strength and compassion. Whether answering emergency calls, guiding young firefighters, or simply offering a helping hand to a neighbor in need, his impact will never be forgotten.

The legacy Skip leaves behind is one of honor, sacrifice, and selfless service. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, fellow firefighters, and everyone whose lives he touched during his remarkable lifetime.

Rest easy, Chief. Your watch may have ended, but your legacy will forever live on in the hearts of this community and those who proudly serve because of your example.

Please keep Skipper, Tiffany & the rest of Skips family, the fire department and the entire Lenore community in your prayers during this difficult time.
