In November, we planted the seeds for a few more acres of wildflowers. We ordered the seed mixes from Hancock Farm & Seed Co. and they are thriving. We cannot wait to see the display they provide for us this year and for years to come! We also had a pesky turkey decide it wanted to make a sand bath in one of the new beds.

A lot of work has gone into preparing a few acres beyond the fenced garden to plant additional beds. Here are just a few photos of where our new wildflower blends will grow. The mixes contain annuals and perennials, so we should get a good show of flower blooms this summer, but the beds will mature and change dramatically over the next three years. The mature perennial wildflower beds within our fenced in garden will be entering their fifth season, and even last year we were blessed with new flower varieties we hadn’t seen before!

All the beds were mowed with the lawnmower to clean them up and prepare them for new growth. It’s hard to believe that it won’t be long before these beds are filled with flowers up to five feet tall!
