We are honored to have received the 2026 Bessie Bocock Carter Conservation Award from The Garden Club of Virginia for our Native Pollinator Gateway Garden at Dodona Manor! Thank you GCV for this great honor.

The award makes possible implementation of specific, tangible projects that directly benefit natural resource conservation or environmental protection within the Commonwealth. Award recipients’ contribution to the project must be directly evident and measurable, and each project would inspire others to outstanding accomplishments on behalf of Virginia’s natural resources.

One week from Historic Garden Week in Leesburg and you can’t miss this gorgeous secret garden tucked behind the Baker House on West Market Street. The current owners added stone and brick pathways, new patios and the Lady Fountain to preserve the garden structure of their early 1800s Federal Style home.

Enjoy the beauty of Virginia at the peak of spring, with 1,000 world-class floral arrangements by Garden Club of Virginia members that enhance nearly 130 of the state’s most beautiful private properties, open this April to help raise funds to restore and preserve historic public gardens and landscapes. Historic Garden Week offers a unique opportunity during the nation’s 250th anniversary to visit many properties linked to early Virginians who helped shape American history.

Showcased properties range from farmhouses to urban townhomes, and from intimate courtyard gardens to backyard meadows filled with native plants and wildflowers. Each tour offers a captivating selection of three to five private homes and gardens, many of which are open to the public for the first time during Historic Garden Week, along with access to numerous state and national historic landmarks. Prices range from $25 to $75 per person, with a child’s ticket (ages 5-17) available for $15 on many tours, a new option this year.

The FLOWER Magazine Statewide Pass promotion is available for purchase for those who are looking for a full week of touring; however, Little Oak Spring & Morven require a separate ticket purchase.
