Today I sat in a vet’s office with what felt like nothing more than skin and bones. Her tiny body was so cold it didn’t even register on the thermometer. Her gums and tongue were completely white—signs of a life that had been slipping away for far too long.

As I sat there, I couldn’t stop wondering… how long had she been out there alone? Did she belong to someone once? Did anyone ever love her?

I had already started imagining bringing her home, wrapping her in blankets, feeding her slowly, helping her heal. I could see it so clearly—what a beautiful, vibrant dog she would become once she was healthy again.

But that wasn’t the ending she got.

She was too far gone. The anemia had already taken too much. There was no saving her.

After she passed, the vet examined her more closely. She was around four years old. She had been on her own for weeks without food. And heartbreakingly… she had been used for breeding.

Used. Not loved. Not cared for. Just used.

A Forever Home Animal Rescue would like to thank the two kind women who rescued her and brought her to us. She was rushed to Purrfect Paws & Claws Veterinary Hospital, where Dr. Valdes and her staff were incredibly compassionate and moved quickly to care for her.

We named her Blue.

She was surrounded by love during the last hour of her life.

This is the reality of breeding for profit when there is no compassion or accountability. Dogs are treated like machines—valued only for what they can produce, discarded when they no longer serve a purpose. Overbred, neglected, starved, and abandoned when they are no longer “useful.”

They don’t get soft beds. They don’t get full bowls. They don’t get to just be dogs.

We know there are responsible breeders who care deeply for their animals, provide proper medical care, and ensure their dogs are never treated as disposable. This is not about them. This is about the ones who neglect, exploit, and discard lives for profit—those are the practices that must end.

We are brokenhearted. This was a horrible day. She deserved so much more.

Please, choose adoption. Support ethical rescues. Speak out against irresponsible breeding.

For Blue. 💔
