Our Story

If you have ever been to Camp 151 Coffee, you know how special this camp is to attend. COFO, as attendees fondly call this camp, isn’t like any other camp most have attended in their youth and adult years. COFO is family and attending this camp with give you memories that will last a lifetime. “There is no place” all of us who have been apart of COFO “would rather be!”

The history of Camp 151 is a colorful story to say the least. It all started in 2002 when a Youth Pastor, Lee Smith (now Rev. Lee Smith), convinced a group of 12 youth and 3 adults to travel to a rural, poverty stricken area of South Carolina to attend a Salkehatchie Summer Service Camp to repair homes for needy families. We were all deeply affected and continued to go back to South Carolina to participate in Salkehatchie camp for over ten years.

Just a few years after the first trip to South Carolina, the coffee county attendees felt led to start a home repair ministry in their town, Douglas, GA. They joined forces with South Carolina's Salkehatchie Summer Service ministry and operated under their umbrella of adminstration and guidance for the next 7 years (2006-2012).

In 2006, COFO Coffee held its first camp with just 8 people. They worked on 1 home. The gentleman in the home was so moved by the experience, as were we, on Easter Sunday, the next year, he joined the church that sponsors the camp each year.
