🇺🇸 D-Day Remembrance | June 6, 1944 🇺🇸
Today we pause to remember the courage, sacrifice, and determination of those who stormed the beaches of Normandy during D-Day, one of the most pivotal moments in world history.
When we think of military service, we often picture the soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines who answered the call. But alongside them stood another group of warriors who carried their own burden of service—the horses, mules, and pack animals that supported military operations around the world.
Throughout World War II, hundreds of thousands of horses and mules transported supplies, ammunition, medical equipment, and wounded personnel across terrain where vehicles simply could not go. They carried the weight of war through mountains, forests, and battlefields, serving with unwavering loyalty and courage.
Many never returned home.
At My Shepherd's Ranch, we believe their service should never be forgotten. The bond between humans and horses has shaped history, carried nations through conflict, and continues to support healing, resilience, and public service today.
As we remember the heroes of D-Day, we also honor the animals who stood beside them—working not for glory or recognition, but because they trusted the people they served.
May we never forget the sacrifices made for freedom.
To the Greatest Generation, and to the horses that carried them forward, we remember.
🇺🇸 Lest We Forget. 🇺🇸
