🎉🐴 IT’S OFFICIAL — ROOTS & REINS IS FUNDED! 🐴🎉

What started as a vision for our little corner of rural North Florida is officially becoming a reality.
Project Roots & Reins has been FUNDED, and we are moving forward!
This project is about far more than building an arena. We are creating a dedicated space where horses, education, community, and opportunity come together.
🌱 WHAT THIS MEANS FOR OUR COMMUNITY
Roots & Reins will give My Shepherd’s Ranch Inc. the ability to expand hands-on opportunities right here in our community — especially for young people who may otherwise have limited access to agriculture and equine programs.
This space will allow us to provide:
🐴 Hands-on horsemanship and equine education
🌾 Agricultural learning and practical life skills
🤠 Youth workshops and skill-building opportunities
🚔 Exposure to equine careers in mounted law enforcement, search & rescue, disaster response, and other working-horse fields
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 More opportunities for families and our community to connect with our mission
❤️ A safe, structured environment where responsibility, confidence, teamwork, and respect can grow
For our horses, it means something just as important: a dedicated space to rehabilitate, retrain, and prepare rescued horses for their second careers.
But this project also changes the future of MSR.
For My Shepherd’s Ranch Inc., Roots & Reins represents the next chapter.
We began with a mission to give overlooked horses another purpose. That mission isn't changing — it's growing.
Roots & Reins gives us the infrastructure to expand our educational programs, strengthen community partnerships, create new opportunities for youth, host more workshops, and continue developing rescued horses for meaningful working careers.
It takes us from asking, “What can we do with what we have?” to asking:
“How many more horses and people can we impact with what we're building?”
To every donor, supporter, organization, business, and person who believed that a small rural nonprofit could build something meaningful:

❤️ OUR COMMUNITY SHOWED UP — IN JUST 3 DAYS! 🐴🤠

Just three days ago, My Shepherds Ranch Inc. reached out with a simple request: help us outfit the student athletes participating in the Oak Grove Academy DJJ Equine Program.

The response has been incredible.

In only three days, we have received an outpouring of donations—from western shirts, jeans, boots, and ranch wear to professional men’s suits, dress shirts, and ties that these young men can use as they prepare for opportunities beyond the arena.
This particular request wasn't directly for our horses. It was for the young people who will be standing beside them.
Because of you, students will be able to begin their horsemanship program properly outfitted and looking like a team. They'll have clothing for the barn, the arena, and even opportunities where presenting themselves professionally matters.
Sometimes a second chance starts with something as simple as having the right pair of boots, a shirt that fits, or a suit that lets a young man walk into a room with confidence.
And we're not finished! We can always use more new or gently used western clothing, boots, jeans, flannels, belts, hats, jackets, and professional men's clothing.
To everyone who donated, shared our post, searched through a closet, or told someone about our mission—THANK YOU.
You didn't just donate clothing. You showed these student athletes that there is a community willing to invest in their success.

🌾 THIS is how we preserve agriculture and protect its future.

We don't preserve agriculture simply by remembering where we came from, or put on a one time event— we preserve it by giving the next generation a reason to become part of it. By putting young people beside horses, teaching responsibility, horsemanship, work ethic, and respect for the land and animals, we are creating opportunities for agriculture to continue through the hands of the next generation.

At MSR, rescue has never been only about the horse. It's about what can happen when second chances meet purpose.

🤠 COMMUNITY CALL: HELP US OUTFIT LOCAL STUDENT ATHLETES 🐴

My Shepherds Ranch Inc. is proud to be working alongside **Oak Grove Academy DJJ Equine Program, **helping bring horses, horsemanship, responsibility, and new opportunities into the lives of student athletes.

Now, we’re asking our community to help us with something simple—but meaningful.
As these young men step into the equine program, we want them to have the opportunity to look and feel like they belong in the arena. For some, western clothing and proper barn attire may not be something they already own or have access to.

🐎 We are seeking new or gently used western-style clothing, including:
• Western/work boots
• Jeans
• Flannel shirts
• Western button-down shirts
• Belts
• Cowboy hats (bent or dirty is acceptable)
• Work jackets and vests
• Other appropriate ranch or western wear
S, M, L, XL, XXL

These aren't just clothes.
Putting on a pair of boots, learning to handle a horse, caring for an animal that depends on you, and becoming part of a team can represent something much bigger: responsibility, confidence, discipline, pride, and a fresh direction.
Our goal is to make sure financial circumstances never prevent a underserved youth from fully participating or feeling like they belong.
If you have quality western clothing sitting in a closet that could be given a second purpose, MSR would be honored to put it into the hands of a student who can use it.
Businesses, western stores, ranches, equestrians, and community members interested in organizing a clothing drive or making a larger donation are also encouraged to reach out.

🚜 WE DON’T NEED A NEW TRACTOR. WE NEED THE RIGHT PARTNER.

Sometimes running a horse rescue means making do with what you have.
At My Shepherd’s Ranch Inc., that currently means unloading large round bales by securing them to a tree and carefully pulling the truck out from underneath them.
We make it work—but there’s a safer way.
A tractor with a front-end loader has become one of our greatest operational needs. Traditional financing would mean taking funds away from hay, feed, veterinary care, farrier care, and rehabilitation.
Simply put, we won't take food from their mouths to put equipment in the barn. 🐴
So, we're looking for the right partner.
Maybe you're a farmer with an older tractor that isn't being used. Maybe you're an equipment dealer with a dependable trade-in. Or maybe you're a business interested in making a meaningful equipment sponsorship.
We are open to a donation, partial donation, equipment sponsorship, or nonprofit-friendly payment arrangement.
🚜 It doesn't need to be new.
🚜 It doesn't need to be pretty.
❤️ It needs to be safe, dependable, and capable of working.
While we're a small rural Florida nonprofit, our mission reaches far beyond our fence line. My Shepherd’s Ranch Inc. is a 501(c)(3) equine rescue and a verified member of the internationally recognized Homes for Horses Coalition, with relationships and outreach extending throughout the United States.

A qualifying equipment donation may also be eligible for a charitable tax deduction, and we can provide appropriate donation acknowledgment. Donors should consult their tax professional regarding eligibility.
Maybe the tractor we need is already sitting in someone's barn, field, or equipment yard.

🐴 TWO WORLDS. ONE HORSE. A NEW PATH FORWARD.
My Shepherds Ranch Inc. is proud to announce a new chapter in our mission—working to bridge equine opportunities with youth within Florida’s juvenile justice system.
It is an unlikely intersection.
On one side: juvenile offenders working toward rehabilitation, accountability, and a new direction in life.
On the other: rescued horses working through rehabilitation and training toward a new purpose—including potential careers in mounted law enforcement, mounted search and rescue, and other public-service roles.
At first glance, their stories may seem completely different.
We believe they have more in common than most people realize.
Both have a past.
Both may have been misunderstood, overlooked, or written off.
Both are being asked to learn new boundaries, build trust, develop discipline, and prepare for what comes next.
And both deserve the opportunity to prove that their past does not have to determine their future.

🐴 That is where the horse becomes the bridge.
Through structured, ground-based horsemanship, youth will have opportunities to work alongside rescue horses progressing through their own rehabilitation and training.
They will learn practical skills in equine handling, safety, care, communication, teamwork, leadership, and responsibility—while seeing firsthand what it takes to transform a rescued horse into a confident, dependable working partner.
These aren't simply horses standing in a pasture.
Some are being prepared for demanding future roles where trust, composure, discipline, and reliability matter—including mounted law enforcement and search-and-rescue environments.
The parallel is difficult to ignore.
While the horse is being prepared for its second chance, so is the young person standing beside it.
The lessons learned at the end of a lead rope extend far beyond the barn.

-Patience.
-Accountability.
-Emotional control.
-Consistency.
-Situational awareness.
-Respect.
-Leadership.
-Trust.

These are qualities we ask of our working horses.
They are also qualities that can help a young person successfully rebuild their life.
This program is not about ignoring the decisions that brought a young person into the juvenile justice system.
It is about asking what decisions they will make next.
A horse does not know a juvenile record.
A horse does not know a reputation.
A horse responds to the person standing in front of them—their actions, patience, consistency, confidence, and ability to earn trust.
And perhaps that creates one of the most powerful lessons we can offer:
Your past may explain where you started. It does not have to decide where you finish.
Our hope is that youth leave this experience with more than horsemanship knowledge. We want them to leave with tangible skills, greater confidence, exposure to equine and agricultural career pathways, and a better understanding of what responsibility and purpose can look like in their own lives.
Because at My Shepherds Ranch, rehabilitation has never meant simply saving a horse.
It means preparing that horse for what comes next.
Now, we have an opportunity to allow young people rebuilding their own lives to be part of that journey.
A rescued horse preparing for a new career.
A young person preparing for a new life.

We want to thank LB Feed for always taking care of our horses. Christy and Brett always provide the highest quality feeds. This here is 2, 500lbs alfalfa compressed blocks. Thank yall for being our only trusted source for the highest quality alfalfa hay!

It’s so good, the horse’s don’t give us time to get it off the truck.
