Today, members of VFW Post 4107 proudly participated in the Memorial Day service to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation.

Our Honor Guard rendered a gun salute and played Taps in remembrance of our fallen heroes. Dr. Jeff Brown delivered a moving reading of the poem “In Flanders Fields,” reminding all in attendance of the sacrifice made by generations of American service members.

Following the ceremony, Post 4107 held a Buddy Poppy event to continue honoring and remembering those who served and sacrificed for our freedom.

We thank everyone who came out to support and help keep the memory of our fallen alive this Memorial Day.

“Never forget.”

VFW Post 4107 was honored to support Wagons for Warriors in Lebanon, Missouri today. We truly appreciated the fellowship with our active duty military, fellow veterans, and members of the DAV and American Legion.

Today we proudly passed out Buddy Poppies, held a recruitment drive, and enjoyed some great food and camaraderie with our comrades.

Thank you to everyone who came out and helped support our veterans and military community.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family, friends, and all members of the VFW on the sudden passing of Scott Buennemeyer, our District 18 VFW Commander-elect, who passed away last night.

Scott’s dedication, leadership, and commitment to veterans and the VFW community will not be forgotten. He touched the lives of many through his service and friendship, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Please keep his family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

For the 9th straight year, not a single piece of meaningful legislation was passed in Missouri to benefit veterans. That fact alone should concern every citizen in this state.

This year, we once again attempted to pass the same veteran-related legislation that nearly every state surrounding Missouri has already had in place for years. Yet Missouri continues to rank among the worst states in the nation for retired and disabled veterans.

The continued failure to support those who served has driven many veterans to leave our state in search of places where their sacrifices are recognized and respected.

What makes this year even more disappointing is that our own Senator Sandy Crawford from the Lebanon area allowed these veteran bills to die in committee rather than bringing them before the Senate for a vote. This happened despite the Missouri House of Representatives passing the legislation by an overwhelming majority.

It also took nearly four months for any veteran-related legislation to even move from the House to the Senate. Veterans should never be treated as an afterthought.

When election time comes, I ask everyone to seriously consider where the people seeking office stand on issues affecting veterans. Support for veterans should not be a campaign slogan, it should be reflected in action.

Yesterday the all-volunteer VFW Post Honor Guard had the solemn privilege of providing honors for a U.S. Marine Corps veteran laid to rest here in Lebanon, Missouri . While our unit is comprised of many dedicated members all of which are not pictured here, we are humbled to have been able to provide this service to honor a fellow veteran’s life and service to our nation. We extend our deepest condolences to the Bailey family and friends of the family.
