Day 4 - Summer Steps Health Care Career Camp
Working as a team is the fundamental building block of healthcare, as the delivery of high-quality patient care relies on the seamless integration of diverse medical expertise and collaborative communication. Engaging in team-building exercises, such as the adventure high-rise challenge course at Oregon State University, allows students to transform from individual contributors into effective leaders by honing their ability to delegate, trust, and motivate others under pressure. These experiences provide a vital foundation for a future healthcare career, where the ability to offer and receive support directly impacts clinical outcomes and staff resilience. By navigating these heights today, students learned that success in a high-stakes environment is not a solo endeavor but a collective achievement rooted in mutual support and shared goals.
An amazing way to end OPAHEC First Steps Healthcare Career Camp!!!
I am so proud of all of you for such an incredible last 4 days. All of these students are going to go so far and I hope this experience you will remember for the rest of your life and the skills you gained help to develop a pathway into healthcare!
Sincerely,
Jaime Montgomery
OPAHEC Director
