We are a Volunteer run, 501c3 non-profit foster-based Dog rescue in Kingwood, TX without a shelter Twyla's Friends is a 501(3)(c) charity organization.

Our mission is to help abandoned and rescued dogs in our community through veterinary assistance and help with placement in permanent homes. Twyla's Friends is a volunteer organization with no shelter or kennel facilities. All donations are used to help pay veterinary expenses for dogs in immediate need.

Meet Aubrey!

This gorgeous little Chihuahua mix girl is about 5 yrs old and came to us as a stray. She seems to have had a rough start in life as she is pretty timid. Good thing she is treat motivated and pretty smart, so she’s figuring out that her foster family is trustworthy (and they have really good treats). She is learning to play with the other Chihuahua in the home, but she’s not a fan of large dogs.

Aubrey is looking for a patient home with or without another small companion dog for her to hang out with, but most importantly she would like someone home a lot.

Come see us this Saturday at Bark In the Park in Town Center Park - Kingwood from 12:00 - 5:00 PM where we’ll be selling our handmade collars and bandanas! 🎉🎉

We have fun patterns for:

🎾 Sports events
🎾 Halloween
🎾 Christmas
🎾 And more!

Plus every dollar we make goes towards supporting the dogs in our care. 💚

We’ll also have a few of our adoptable dogs there to hang out! Since this is a longer event, most dogs won’t be there the whole time, so if there’s anyone your interested in meeting, please let us know ahead of time so we can coordinate with their foster. 🐾

🫧 Mr. Bubbles Update! 🫧

While he’s definitely still a boundary pusher in the home, he went to both the vet and the groomer last week and did fantastic! The vets only got minimal side eye and he actually loved all the attention at the groomers.

Big shout out to Wags n Wiggles Pet Styling for taking care of all his grooming needs! They were so kind and patient with him and he left there looking and feeling his best. 💚

Mr. Bubbles is still looking for a permanent foster home! If you think you can help us give him a comfortable retirement please complete a foster application at https://www.twyla.org/foster-application/. All expenses will be covered by Twyla’s Friends, but regular training sessions in Kingwood with our trainer will be required.

Twyla’s Fam! We have a special ask. We are caring for the dog of a former long-time Twyla’s volunteer and foster who passed away last year. Buster is about 10 yrs old, and resides in a loving permanent foster home. We have worked out that he likely has a chicken-protein sensitivity after several bad reactions to different foods. He is currently on Costco’s Kirkland brand Salmon & Sweet Potato dry food and does very well on it. If you are able to donate a bag or contribute toward his meals, it would mean the world to us!

We’ve had to cancel our October Meet and Greet at the Cove today, but don’t worry, we’ll be at Bark In the Park in just two weeks with some adoptable dogs! If you can’t wait until then, please fill out an application so we can set up a private meet and greet. 🐾

Meet Archie & Ethel! 💕

These smiley little pug mixes were found together by a good samaritan and are estimated to be around a year and a half old. They very much enjoy each others company, but could be adopted separately. Archie (male) is more clingy and can be a bit anxious in new environments, but he’s so incredibly affectionate, and would love to be a lapdog. Ethel (female) is pretty independent with a side of sass. She was DEFINITELY the brains of this operation as well (no offense to Archie). 😅

Both Archie and Ethel are dog friendly, kid friendly, house trained, walk well on a least, and do great on short car rides! Check out their full bios in the links below. 💚

Update: EVENT CANCELED

Our monthly Meet and Greet event is this Sunday, October 4th, from 2:00-5:00 PM at The Cove on Hamblen (weather pending!). Come have a b**r and meet some of our available pup! 🐶🍻

All of the dogs pictured should be there, but if there’s any dog on our website that you’re interested in seeing, please give us a heads up, so we can do our best to make sure you get the chance to meet them! 💚

‼️ Looking for Permanent Foster ‼️

Mr. Bubbles is back and looking for a landing spot. We do not have the entire story of what happened, and likely won’t ever get it, but Mr. Bubbles is back with a bite history. He is not available for adoption, but is looking for a permanent foster. Mr. Bubbles is now 13 years old and deaf. He will need a handler that can maintain boundaries while paying attention to his communications with gentle patience and without losing leadership. Prior dog experience required. Attending training with our trainer is vital.
