Good things happen when a community comes together. We loved being part of this Day of Service with myHometown Layton and making a positive impact. The volunteers were amazing and Layton City was awesome! Thanks everyone who joined us. Thanks Joy Petro Layton City Mayor for all the support!

We just completed our second Day of Service for 2026. We had wonderful volunteers who showed up in big numbers! We were able to clear yards of overgrowth, remove trees, scrubs, stumps, mow lawns, and beautify our community! We appreciate Joy Petro Layton City Mayor and Layton City for their support of myHometown Layton. The City workers who stayed until the very end and made numerous trips to the landfill went above and beyond once again! We live in a great place and love the sense of community that Layton has! Come join us on our next Day of Service, Saturday, June 13th. Check out our website for more details and to register as a volunteer with myHometown Layton!! myHometownut.com

We had a Layton Lifts Volunteer appreciation luncheon on Friday. Our amazing volunteers were thanked by Joy Petro Layton City Mayor, as well as Superintendent Linford and School Board President Briget Gerrard. We were grateful for the time they took from their busy schedules to attend and pay tribute to the many volunteers that help tutoring in the Layton Schools.

For Layton Lifts - As part of MyHometown Layton we are looking for wonderful volunteers to help with tutoring in the elementary schools in Layton. Currently, our local elementary schools are facing a critical need for consistent, caring volunteers to support students who are struggling to navigate both academic and personal challenges. Many of these children are facing circumstances that no child should have to carry alone.
We are seeing students dealing with:
**Transient home lives and frequent housing instability.
**Cultural transitions as they adjust to a new country and community.
**Language barriers while they work to master English.
**Lack of academic support due to overextended parents or the hardships of poverty.
How You Can Help: We are looking for dedicated individuals who can commit just one hour per week to serve as a mentor and tutor. The focus is simple but profound: helping a child improve their math and reading skills while providing the steady, encouraging presence they may be missing elsewhere.
The Impact of Your Influence: You do not need to be a professional educator to make a difference. These children don't just need a tutor; they need a friend who believes in them. Your caring influence can provide the emotional stability and confidence a child needs to stay in school and succeed.
The time to get vetted and start your volunteer service is now! During the summer is the best time to sign up and prepare to help for the next school year. We also have need of help during the summer for great volunteers! You can contact Curt and Denise Deru 801.540.7244 [email protected] to sign up. Or visit our website: myHometownut.com for more information and to volunteer.
