We’ll be clearing weeds and branches and cleaning up debris throughout the area. Bring gloves, sunscreen, sturdy closed-toe shoes, and any rakes or battery/gas-powered trimmers you have!

📣 SAVE THE DATE: Saturday September 12!

Join myHometown for our final Day of Service of 2026 as we work together on a major fire-mitigation and clean-up project around Holmes Creek Reservoir in east Layton.

📅 Saturday, September 12
⏰ 9:00–11:00 AM
📍 Holmes Creek Reservoir Area

Volunteers should enter from Oak Hills Road on 2800 East and park as directed near the access gate.

We’re hoping to gather 200–300 volunteers to remove dead weeds, branches and overgrowth, as well as clean up trash and debris throughout the recreation area.

Please bring rakes, gloves, sunscreen and sturdy closed-toe shoes. Battery- or gas-powered weed-eaters and trimmers will be especially helpful! We also need volunteers with pickup trucks who can help gather debris and transport it to the landfill off Highway 193.

Water and donuts will be provided! 🍩💧

With two locations and classes beginning September 3 and September 8, there are plenty of opportunities to learn something new. From cooking, art and sewing to piano, English classes and more!

This is what happens when a community comes together! 💚

A huge thank you to everyone who joined our Day of Service and helped clean up the Layton Rail Trail. Together, we cleared weeds, branches and debris to help with fire mitigation and make the trail safer and more beautiful for our community.
