The Toussaint Du Bois Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution would like to recognize two local high school seniors with the Good Citizen Award. Lawrenceville High School senior Corbyn Patterson and Red Hill High School senior Amelia Crask were both chosen by their teachers and other high school seniors in their school. In order to be chosen, Patterson and Crask needed to display the qualities of dependability, honesty, service, cooperation, leadership, and patriotism in support of the United States as well as its veterans.
Patterson’s high school activities include Student council, National Honor Society, CEO, SADD, FCA, FCCLA, Interact Club, Volleyball, Track, and Band. Within the community, she volunteers with Rotary, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Salvation Army. She participates in Lawrence County Arts Council as well. She works part-time at Sip-It and Whittaker Beef. Her future plans are to attend Vincennes University to earn an Associate’s Degree in Interior Design and a Bachelor’s Degree in Leadership and Business Management.
Crask’s high school activities include Student council, National Honor Society, FCA, Interact Club, FFA, Art Club, Class Officer all 4 years, Student Librarian, and Band. Within the community, she volunteers with Fish and Loaves, Kids Shopping Day, and Meals on Wheels. She participates in her church worship team as well. She works as a waitress at Griffin’s Pizza House. Her future plans are to attend Greenville University majoring in Psychology while minoring in Biblical Studies to become a Christian Counselor.
They both wrote a 550 word essay celebrating our nation’s 250th birthday. They were to describe how the characteristics of a good citizen help to renew and strengthen the democracy achieved by the Patriots of the American Revolution. The essays and resumes will be sent to district, state, and national levels for judging for the possibility of earning scholarship money. The two students will receive a pin, certificate, and gift card from the local Toussaint De Bois DAR Chapter in March 2026.
