Dearborn County CARE

Dearborn County CARE Community Action Recovery Effort (CARE) is the Recovery Oriented System of Care for Dearborn County.

It is a collaborative group of diverse stakeholders coming together to support community wellness and ensure a recovery-ready community. Our mission is to strive to make Dearborn County an educated and unified community where individuals and families can safely and easily access reliable services and lasting support towards hope, recovery and meaning in life. It began as a project of the Mayor of

Lawrenceburg and is now facilitated by One Community One Family with a network of stakeholders driving the effort. The intent is to be solution-focused in engaging change agents to ensure a collective impact in addressing substance abuse to ensure Dearborn County is a recovery-oriented community. CARE began it's work in the autumn of 2018 after a year-long needs assessment and strategic planning process facilitated by the National Council on Behavioral Health. CARE was the first Trauma-Informed, Recovery-Oriented System of Care (TI-ROSC) to launch in the Southeast Indiana region. During that process, a group of over 50 diverse stakeholders came together to discuss needs and determine goals for addressing substance use in Dearborn County. Of those determined goals, six were chosen for the initial focus and a work group was formed to address each goal. In February 2025, CARE launched the CARE Resource Connection, a collaborative space designed to bring together service providers, organizations, and community partners dedicated to supporting individuals and families in Southeast Indiana. This resource hub fosters partnerships, increases access to essential services, and enhances community outreach, ensuring those in need receive comprehensive support. By offering affordable office space, shared resources, and networking opportunities, the CARE Resource Connection helps organizations maximize their impact. We had an incredible turnout for yesterday’s Medicaid Lunch & Learn, with 60 community partners and providers in attendance!

We’re grateful to all of our presenters who traveled from across Indiana to share their expertise, including Susan Jo Thomas with Covering Kids & Families Indiana, along with representatives from Anthem, CareSource, and Managed Health Services (MHS).

We covered upcoming HIP work requirements and other Medicaid changes, and most importantly, how we can help the people we serve navigate these changes.

A huge thank-you to our local SIEOC Covering Kids & Families partners for being there and for the important work you do helping individuals and families in our communities. ❤️
