6/17@9:20pm - PLEASE pay attention to these warnings of possible, overnight, severe weather!! It's no joke.

* Charge your devices
* Have shoes & flashlights ready
* Be ready to head to your basement or center interior room, on lowest floor, with NO windows.

It's imperative that you have a weather app or NOAA weather radio to wake you up if there is a severe thunderstorm warning or tornado warning where you are! Latest timing this evening for the Tri-State:

🚨 ALERT 🚨

6/17@8PM - This line of approaching severe weather is NO JOKE!

Strong and severe storms expected between midnight and 6am. Do NOT go to bed tonight without a way to recieve weather alerts! Damaging winds, Hail, Isolated Tornadoes are ALL POSSIBLE overnight across the Tristate. Higher chances in Indiana and Ohio.

Join us in praying that it all dissipates and causes little to no damage. 🙏🏼

This weekend wasn’t just about yard work, repairs, or cleaning up a property.

It was about Georgie.

An 84-year-old widow who opened her home, shared stories, made new friends, and watched neighbors come together to help with projects she simply couldn’t tackle on her own.

Over the course of the day, volunteers cleared brush, cleaned up the yard, tackled repairs, and even returned later in the week to finish installing a gutter. But the greatest impact wasn’t what got checked off a list.

It was the reminder that Georgie is seen, loved, and not alone.

Thank you to every volunteer who showed up, served hard, and helped bring a little more help & hope to Amelia this month. ❤️

This is what Second Saturday is all about.

6/17 - Please stay weather aware today and tonight. 🚨

Thunderstorms are expected to develop late this afternoon and into tonight. Some severe storms will be possible. Damaging wind will be the main threat, although large hail and a few tornadoes will also be possible. The storms will also be capable of producing heavy downpours resulting in the potential for localized flash flooding.

THIS! 😳

In an abundance of caution, this is why we've decided to not spin up our deployment to NW Indiana until Thursday. We'd love to put boots on the ground sooner but, we also want to keep our volunteers safe.

Pray for no additional negative impacts and that we will be able to start with cleanup assistance on Thursday. 🙏🏼

Thanks!

⚠️A potentially impactful day for severe weather is on the table tomorrow across Indiana. Right now all hazards appear possible including the potential for very large hail and a few tornadoes. A few strong tornadoes ( EF-2+) are possible.

While confidence is growing in a potential impactful day across our region, there are still a few uncertainties ahead of tomorrow. Like last Thursday, there is a chance of morning showers which may impact the location and severity of round 2. We will continue to watch trends and adjust forecasts as needed. Forecast revisions are expected as data and locations are fined tuned through tomorrow.

-TIMING-
After 1:00pm EDT into tomorrow night

-HAZARDS-
● Damaging winds 60-70mph
● Tornadoes (a few may be strong EF-2+)
● Large hail up to 2.00"

Another hazard will be very fast storm motions. Storms will potentially be moving very quickly tomorrow at speeds greater than 60mph! This means potentially less reaction time. Persons are encouraged to remain weather aware and have multiple ways to receive warnings.

NOTE: We make in-house forecasts and they are not intended to reflect SPC. We uses these risk levels to communicate different hazards in different locations.

🚨 LET’S GO!! 🚨

Friends,

We’re reaching out with heavy hearts following the devastating tornadoes and severe weather outbreak that impacted northwest Indiana on Thursday evening.

While details are still coming together, we know this: families are hurting, homes have been damaged or destroyed, and help is needed.

Masters of Disaster is preparing to deploy into the area. We are currently working with local contacts, ministry partners, and VOAD partners to assess needs, confirm staging locations, and identify project opportunities.

As we prepare to serve, we need two things immediately:

🔨 VOLUNTEERS

If you are able and willing to serve on short notice over the next 1–2 weeks, please let us know.

We will continue to communicate confirmed deployment dates, work locations, lodging details, and project information as it becomes available.

If you are available to deploy, even for just one day, please complete the volunteer signup below and stand by for further details.

QUICK UPDATE: FRIDAY, JUNE 12 @ 11:30AM -
Central/Northern Illinois and Central/Northern Indiana have both been impacted by multiple tornadoes across the region.

We have been monitoring the situation since last evening and have been in ongoing communication with our state VOAD (volunteer organizations active in disaster) partners regarding impact areas and where assistance may be needed.

There is also flash flooding cleanup from rains earlier this week beginning next week in the Lanesville/Corydon, IN area. We may need volunteers to respond there as well.

QUICK UPDATE: FRIDAY, June 12th at 11:30AM EDT -
If you are a current Masters of Disaster volunteer, please STANDBY for details about possible deployments over the coming days.

If you are already signed up to volunteer for our Second Saturday Simple Serve project in Amelia this weekend, please stay the course and show up to help Ms. Georgie. That project is still happening, and she is counting on us.

We will communicate more details as they become clear and GO where God guides us.

Please be in prayer for all of the people being impacted by these summer storms, and pray that we are able to respond appropriately, wisely, and in the places where we can make the greatest positive impact.

Thanks,
Darin
