The work we do is about much more than the numbers.

Yes, those numbers are incredibly important, and we have a lot to be proud of at Nectar. But behind every investment is a story that paints a more powerful picture of our impact: families upgrading their homes, entrepreneurs growing their businesses and communities building a more stable future. Our 2025 Impact Report is dedicated to telling those stories. As our industry and our mission face new obstacles, sharing them — in the voices and through the eyes of the people we serve — feels more important than ever. To learn more, please take a few minutes to read through the report. We’re grateful for your support!https://nectarinvests.org/annual-reports/standing-with-our-communities/

In March 1968, just weeks before his assassination, Dr. Martin Luther King gave his final Sunday sermon at Washington’s National Cathedral. He addressed a crowd of thousands these words: “There is nothing new about poverty. What is new is that we now have the techniques and the resources to get rid of poverty. The real question is whether we have the will.”

Today, as we honor King’s enduring legacy, let us all find the will. To grow the assets and wealth of people and places often overlooked, to advance his vision for economic justice, to bring our country closer to his dream.

Nectar staff members and Akeem Pierre recently participated in ’s Hacking the Archive class at , providing insight into what makes Nectar unique as an organization and how we position ourselves within our local communities to continue serving our mission. Our team thoroughly enjoyed being in community with other mission-driven organizations in an academic setting, but what stood out most was how eager and engaged the students were throughout the session. They asked thoughtful, informed questions and showed a genuine interest in understanding each organization’s work, especially how we navigate real-world challenges in our communities. The partner organizations also brought a unique lens and set of priorities to the conversation, and it was inspiring to see the range of work being done across the city. Thanks to everyone who participated for offering their perspectives, and to Karilyn for reminding us of the strength that comes with collaboration.

Here’s another Hispanic & Latino Heritage Month stat for you: Massachusetts is home to nearly 60,000 Latino-owned businesses, up 23% in two years (2022-2024). Yet Latinos represent only 9% of all firms, and just 3% are employer businesses. Latino entrepreneurship is strong in our state — imagine the momentum as more small business owners get the capital they need.
