300+ Children Screened. Hundreds of Futures Protected.
During the Spring 2026 semester, the Lawrence Noon Lions Club conducted more than 300 vision screenings for children across the Lawrence community.
Vision problems often go unnoticed in young children because they may not realize their eyesight is different from everyone else’s. Yet clear vision is essential for learning, reading, classroom participation, social development, and overall confidence. Undetected vision issues can affect a child’s academic performance and quality of life for years before they are identified.
Using advanced screening technology, Lions volunteers helped identify children who may be at risk for conditions such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, amblyopia (“lazy eye”), and other vision concerns. Families of children who required further evaluation were encouraged to seek comprehensive eye care from vision professionals.
