April is National Volunteer Month. We are so thankful for our AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP and FGP members, and our VIP members for continuing to volunteer year round. Volunteering is a great way to stay active and make new friends while giving back to the community. Whether you volunteer for a one day service project, or once a week the work our volunteers do is super important to the community. How will you celebrate National Volunteer Month?

To end AmeriCorps Week, we saved the best for last. Meet Ernestine, celebrating her 22nd year as a AmeriCorps Senior Foster Grandparent, and over 30 years of experience volunteering in education! Fun fact about Ernestine is she is a retired Navy vet. She worked as a civilian for the Navy for 13 years before retiring, and then began volunteering. Ernestine loves volunteering with the kids, and even gets recognized by her past students years later. We thank Ernestine and all of our amazing AmeriCorps members for all that they have done and continue to do in the community.
