And voilà! All 20 individual Dump Truck pieces times 150 trucks are milled. Combined with the wheels, axles and headlights, the 10 step glue up process begins…first the mock up to make sure it all works properly.

Shambala dove in to the toy shop this morning for three hours. He rounded over a portion of the dump box bases, ripped to width and rounded over the piece that will make three attachment bases for the tailgate latch. I finished micro sanding the fenders and reduced the length of the dump box spacer T-bar.

Giovanni popped in to the shop this afternoon and for three hours helped close out a productive week in the toy shop. G finished rounding off all the edges of the tailgates while I finished rounding over the edges of the side walls and micro sanding around the headlight recesses in the fenders.

Getting close to glue up time! Ron put another 3 hours in the toy shop today. While I routed roundovers on the dump box side walls, Ron sanded a flat (glue)edge on the smoke stacks. Ron then moved over to rounding over the tailgates. I rotated over to work out the exact positioning of the dump box hinges relative to the “T Bar” hinge base.

Thanks Ron for spending time in the toy shop yesterday! While I routed roundovers on the dump box side walls Ron cut down to size the front walls and matching tail gates.

Yours truly made his first, in this year’s build, dingleberrious blunder in measurements. I gave Ron the wrong measurement for the front wall/tail gates widths…4 5/8” instead of 5 5/8”. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
Fortunately, just 30 of 150 pairs in, I realized my error. Ugggh!!
I have enough scraps laying around to cut 30 new pairs.

Thank you Giovanni for putting four hours of work in the toy shop yesterday. We resawed, planed and stickered the last pieces to milled - the dump box end walls. We finished the day working on the dump box pieces. We rounded the bottom edges of the bases, sawed the 11” side walls and sanded down the hood profiles. Very productive day!

This is the mess you make when you forget to make sure the table saw dust collection blast gate is…open. 🙄
