We didn't just have a grandma—we had a hero who gave us everything.

This is our grandma, Josephine. When we were just kids, I was just 5, we lost our parents in a car accident. Grandma Josie stepped in, she of course didn't hesitate, even though her grief was as overwhelming as ours. She worked long days, sacrificed countless nights, and made sure we always had food on the table, clothes on our backs, and we were surrounded with love.

She wasn't just our grandmother, she became our mother, our teacher, our biggest supporter, and our safe place. Every lesson we learned about hard work, kindness, faith, and family came from her. She shared unconditional love.

Today she turns 90 years old, and the three little boys she raised have grown into men who will never forget what she did for us. Everything we are today is because she never gave up on us.

But God already knew what love could do.

I was 22 when Paul and I told people we wanted to get married. Almost everyone had something to say. They worried we couldn’t handle bills, responsibilities, doctor’s appointments, or the everyday work of a marriage.

Some people even said we wouldn’t make it a year.

But we got married anyway.

We learned life together, little by little. How to cook meals. How to keep up with appointments. How to take care of each other on the hard days and laugh together on the good ones.

Paul has diabetes, and I’ve had my own health issues too. But we never faced those things alone.

We faced them as a team.

After 25 years, we renewed our vows. Not to prove anyone wrong. Not to make a point.

Just because we still chose each other.

Twenty-seven years later, we have a real home, a real life, and a marriage that still holds.

My 14-year-old child has been quietly doing something that stops me in my tracks.

No announcement.
No need for praise.
No big speech about kindness.

Just food… handed to an elderly homeless man with special needs who needed someone to care enough to notice him.

At an age where so many kids are still figuring out who they are, my child is already showing me the kind of heart I pray they never lose.

They see a person where others might only see a problem.

They don’t walk past like he’s invisible.

They show up with food, with gentleness, and with a kind of respect that says, “You matter.”

And honestly, as a parent, there are moments that make you proud in a deeper way than words can really hold.

This is one of them.

Not because it’s grand.

Because it’s good.

Meet Greyson. Right now he is fighting hard. He needs many prayers. Greyson Jesse Black was born on April 27, 2026.

He came a few weeks early, but his delivery was quick and smooth.

Just three hours later, Greyson had trouble breathing. He was taken to the NICU and placed on a ventilator.

Two days later, he was moved to CHOP. There, he needed ECMO life support for three days.

Last week, his family learned he has Alveolar Capillary Dysplasia.

Greyson is still on ventilator support and many medications.

These weeks have been very hard for his family. They are by his bedside each day, holding onto faith and cherishing every moment.

Through it all, they believe God is holding Greyson in His hands.
