Two action medic collectives are offering classes on treating bleeding wounds in the Triangle this weekend.

The Durham Autonomous Medical Network is offering a free workshop on Basic Bleeding Control with an emphasis on gunshot wounds on Saturday, 8/23/25, at 1 pm at The Burrow/La Madriguera at 207 N Church in Durham.

Sanctum of the Craft is offering a free workshop with an emphasis on cuts and abrasions that covers identifying various wounds, assessing the scene and wounded person, recognizing and treating shock, stopping the bleeding, preventing infection, and more. It takes place on Sunday, 8/24/25, at 3 pm at RUMAH's Hub in Downtown Raleigh at 415 Hillsborough St, Suite 101. There will be a later class on other soft tissue, bleeding injuries, including puncture and bullet wounds.

The Triangle needs more people trained to serve their community in times of escalating crisis (climate catastrophe, civil instability, limited medical freedom, etc.) Consider attending medic trainings so you can be better prepared to protect yourself, your friends and family, and your community.

As global temperatures rise, summers lengthen, and heat waves occur with greater frequency and severity, it is crucial to be informed about how to handle exposure to hot temperatures.

Our new free guide explores how to prepare for high heat and sunny days with how you dress and what you pack. It then goes into the most common heat and sun-related illnesses and injuries, how to identify them, and how to treat them with accessible and inexpensive items. We also explore what common medications make sun and heat exposure worse for people, what folk remedies have been scientifically tested and found to be effective, and what folk remedies have been found to be ineffective. Lastly, we provide a simple recipe for a calendula-based sunburn salve with an active natural preservative, so that the salve can last for months without growing mold.

We intend to turn this guide into an illustrated EPUB, but for now, the simple PDF is available for free on our Patreon.

Our live class on this topic takes place tomorrow, 8/13/25, at RUMAH's Hub in Downtown Raleigh. The class will be recorded and posted to our YouTube and Patreon.

This infographic accompanies our live class on the Ethics of Street Medicine and Herbalism for Activism tonight at RUMAH's Hub in Downtown Raleigh.

These ethics will be explored in more depth and detail, as will the legalities and scope of practicing as an action/street/protest/riot medic and herbalist. The class will be recorded and posted to our Patreon, as well, in the free Crisis Preparedness Collection.

What do midwives in the Middle Ages, an infamous poisoner, Harriet Tubman, and an anarchist collective in New Orleans all have in common?

Explore the answer with us tomorrow at Raleigh United Mutual Aid's Hub in Downtown Raleigh as we explore the history and future of medicinal and herbal aid to the oppressed and marginalized. This class will focus on the timeline of this form of activism and the call to action for the future before covering the syllabus for the upcoming weekly courses on Street Medicine and Herbalism for Activism.

Our latest print booklets for students and Patrons arrived! One booklet continues our Entheogens in Depth series with an exploration of Psilocybe mushrooms. It records ancient history, recent history, magical and ceremonial uses, effects on the body, toxicology, clinical studies, medicinal uses, contraindications and side effects, identification, harvesting and storage, recipes, and more.

The other booklet continues our Tarot in Depth series with the Death card, beginning with the cultural influences on the card's development, the history of the imagery of the card from 1450 to modern day, and then divinatory interpretations. The divination section records the interpretation upright and reversed for general, past, present, future, love, money, work, health, spirituality, and LGBTQIA centered readings. It also records the interpretation in the systems of Waite, Mathers, the Golden Dawn, Crowley, Etteilla, Theirens, Ouspensky, and Case.

Triangle Mutual Aid has provided the vast majority of assistance to the North Carolina communities impacted by flooding. It took North Carolina 10 days to finally declare a state of emergency. In the meantime, Triangle Mutual Aid has distributed over $20,000 in direct aid to folks, as well as collected and distributed critical supplies and assisted with clean-up efforts. Unfortunately, Venmo is now refusing to release any more of the funds raised and has imposed "transaction caps", preventing Triangle Mutual Aid from continuing to distribute thousands of dollars to families in need. Venmo's customer service refuses to help. Please continue to donate supplies, give cash directly to the organizers, and also spread the word about Venmo's horrific failure to work with Triangle Mutual Aid during this time of need.

Many Americans do not have adequate access to healthcare. Historically, street and action medics, herbalists, and midwives have provided their communities with medical education, supplies, and support.

This free seminar, Street Medicine and Herbalism for Activism, explores this history and presents ways people can help their communities in the days ahead. Learn about the history of community medicine, the formation of the ADA, the broken chain of knowledge, and what has been intentionally taken from our communities to make us dependent on an ever more broken healthcare system.

This is a two-and-a-half-hour-long seminar with a break in the middle for snacks. Vegan and vegetarian snack options will be provided. Supplemental print materials will also be provided.

This seminar is part of an in-depth course, Crisis Preparedness, which prepares people for acute crises and long-term instability. The course is community-focused, scientifically grounded, and accessible to all, regardless of prior qualifications.

The seminar is on Saturday, the 26th of July, at 3 PM, at the Hub of Raleigh United Mutual Aid in Downtown Raleigh.

Patrons of Sanctum of the Craft received three digital booklets this week - one on the Death card that continues our Tarot in Depth series, one on what may be the oldest entheogen in the world, Psilocybe mushrooms, and one on Bug Out Bags for Climate Catastrophe.

You can become a Patron of Sanctum of the Craft for $1 a month, but we do want to remind everyone that our Crisis Preparedness content (including the Bug Out Bag booklet) is free and public and does not require a person to become a paying Patron to access.

Due to climate change, natural disasters are increasing in frequency and intensity. As temperatures rise and weather patterns change, extreme weather events like wildfires, floods, and storms are becoming more frequent and more deadly.

This free seminar, Bug Out Bags for Climate Emergencies, is intended to help people prepare to leave their homes quickly, safely, and with the tools to survive. The training will focus on when to bug out, why to bug out fast, why we recommend the “Shelf Method”, what to keep in a bug out vehicle, what to pack in a bug out bag for everyday emergencies, and the changes made to a bag for each kind of climate crisis.

The course is presented by instructors of an anarchosocialist collective and witchcraft seminary, Sanctum of the Craft. It is presented at Raleigh United Mutual Aid Center's Hub in Downtown Raleigh and will also be recorded and posted online for free.
