it was a pleasure hosting a fantastic students of Christo Rey St.Viator college preparatory school.
Our sophomore students had the opportunity to experience a powerful educational visit to the Nevada Holocaust Museum exhibit, “The Choices of Man Through the Lens of the Holocaust,” currently on display at the Clark County, Nevada Government Center until January 29th.
Our group was graciously invited and personally guided by Heidi Strauss, who provided an engaging and meaningful tour of the exhibit. A highlight of the experience was the virtual reality component, which allowed students to immerse themselves in survivor stories and historical moments, deepening their understanding of the Holocaust in a way that was both impactful and age-appropriate.
Throughout the visit, students learned about the importance of moral choice, courage, and standing up against injustice, with a strong emphasis on the role of upstanders, individuals who chose compassion and action in the face of hatred and fear. The exhibit sparked thoughtful reflection and discussion among students about empathy, responsibility, and the relevance of these lessons today.
We were also honored to have Commissioner Michael Naft greet our students and speak briefly with them, welcoming them and reinforcing the importance of civic engagement, historical awareness, and learning beyond the classroom.
This experience was both moving and educational for our students!
