❤️ AMAZING UPDATE ON AUBREY! ❤️

One of our wonderful followers saw Aubrey’s story, went to meet her… and fell completely in love. 🥹🐾

After waiting so patiently for someone to see just how special she is, Aubrey found her person! 🏡❤️

We are going to miss you so much, baby girl, but this is exactly the happy ending we wanted for you. No more waiting. No more wondering when it will be your turn.

Your turn finally came, Aubrey. 😭❤️

Have the BEST life, sweet girl. You deserve every bit of love coming your way. 🐾💕

💔 6 MONTHS OF WAITING… PLEASE DON’T LET AUBREY KEEP GETTING OVERLOOKED. 💔

Aubrey was found abandoned outside with her babies. Just a young mama herself, trying to keep her little family safe. 😭

We rescued them, and one by one, Aubrey watched her babies move on to their forever homes. 🏡❤️

But nobody came for Mama.

Now, at only 1 year old, Aubrey has spent almost 6 MONTHS at PetSmart waiting for someone to choose HER. 💔

She watches people walk by. She watches other cats leave with their new families. And she keeps waiting.

Aubrey is shy, and that makes it harder for her to show people just how much love she has inside. But shy cats deserve happy endings too. 🥺

She is incredibly sweet and gets along with cats AND dogs. She doesn’t need much — just someone patient enough to give her the chance she has been waiting for.

Her babies got their happy endings.

PLEASE… let’s make sure their mama gets hers too. 😭❤️🏡

Share Aubrey. Talk about Aubrey. Help us get this beautiful girl HOME.

Six months is long enough. It’s Aubrey’s turn. 🐾❤️

🐾💔 WE NEED FOSTERS — WE CAN’T SAVE THEM WITHOUT YOU. 💔🐾

The hardest part of rescue isn’t finding cats who need help.

It’s looking at a cat who needs us and realizing we have nowhere safe to put them. 💔

Every foster home means we can say YES to another cat or kitten who is scared, abandoned, injured, or simply has nowhere else to go.

🏠 You provide a safe place and love.
🐾 We provide food, supplies, veterinary care, and support.

No experience needed. Short-term and long-term fosters are needed.

Sometimes just a spare bedroom or bathroom can save a life. ❤️

Please consider fostering with Desert Whiskers Rescue — and if you can’t foster, PLEASE SHARE.

Help us say YES to the next cat who needs us. 🥺🐾

❤️ ASTRID UPDATE: WE FINALLY HAVE SOME REALLY ENCOURAGING NEWS ❤️‍🩹

Astrid crossed 10 pounds today. 🎉

If you’re meeting Astrid for the first time, here’s why that number means so much.

When this severely malnourished girl came into Desert Whiskers Rescue after spending months outside, one of our biggest challenges was something that should have been simple: getting her to eat.

She wanted food. She tried to eat. But something kept stopping her.

And despite everything we were doing, we were watching her weight continue to decline.

When Astrid was checked into our vet on August 18, she weighed just 9.16 lbs. At that point, finding the underlying cause was still incredibly important—but first we needed to stop the slide and get nutrition into her.

Astrid spent about a week under veterinary care while her nutrition was medically supported and her doctors continued searching for answers. She received fluids, appetite support, assisted feeding and tons of testing. The immediate goal was to get her stable enough to keep moving forward.

After that, Astrid spent three days with a feline specialist. Their working diagnosis is suspected esophagitis with inflammatory bowel disease—inflammation affecting her esophagus and gastrointestinal tract.

And for the first time, we have a theory that really seems to fit what we have been watching.

An inflamed esophagus can make swallowing painful. That means Astrid may have been genuinely hungry—and we know she was interested in food—but eating itself may have hurt. It could help explain the heartbreaking pattern we saw over and over: she would approach food, try to eat, and then stop.

Inflammation farther down in her gastrointestinal tract could also help explain the weight loss and digestive problems we have been fighting.

She came back into our care Friday with what feels like a small pharmacy: medications to reduce inflammation, protect her esophagus, and manage pain, nausea and acid reflux.

And then something changed.

ASTRID STARTED EATING. ❤️

Not just showing interest. Not just taking a bite or two.

She has been steadily eating both wet and dry food, coming back for more, and the scale is finally moving in the direction we have been desperately hoping to see.

She weighed 9.47 lbs at the specialty hospital.

Today, our scale read 10.08 lbs. 🎉

For most cats, eating a meal or gaining a few ounces isn’t news.

For Astrid, it means everything.

But recovery isn’t happening in a straight line.

On Saturday, Astrid developed significant diarrhea—our newest hurdle. With how dramatically her diet and eating patterns have changed recently, some gastrointestinal upset is understandable, but we are staying in contact with her doctors and monitoring it closely rather than assuming that is the only cause.

It affected her appetite enough that she skipped her wet food Saturday evening and Sunday morning. Every meal matters right now, and when she doesn’t eat well, getting her full medication regimen into her becomes harder too.

Sunday evening, following her doctor’s guidance, we gave her an appetite stimulant along with additional medication to help control the diarrhea.

Thankfully, she ate her wet food well that night. ❤️

For now, we are managing this at home under veterinary guidance and closely monitoring her weight, food intake, stool and medications every day.

We also want to give a HUGE thank you to everyone who has already donated toward Astrid’s care.

The care that made the progress we are sharing today possible happened because of your generosity. You helped make the testing, nutritional support, veterinary care, specialty care and treatment that brought her to this point possible.

When you donated to Astrid, this is what you were helping us fight for: seeing her walk over to a bowl, eat a meal on her own, come back for more, and finally begin putting weight back on. ❤️

We still have a gap to close on the medical expenses that got her this far, and her needs aren’t over. She will continue to need medications, nutritional support and follow-up care as we work toward getting her healthy again.

If you’re able to help Astrid with the medical expenses that got her this far and the care she’ll continue to need, you can find ways to donate in the first comment. If donating isn’t an option, sharing Astrid’s story can help us reach someone who can.

For now, we are holding onto three very big wins:

ASTRID IS EATING.
ASTRID IS GAINING WEIGHT.
ASTRID CROSSED 10 POUNDS. ❤️‍🩹

🐾 OLLIE UPDATE! 🐾

Ollie wants to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who supported him and donated toward his dental care. ❤️

Last week, our sweet boy had two teeth extracted, and he is doing so well! Before his dental, poor Ollie had almost no interest in wet food or even drinking water. Now, after getting those painful teeth taken care of, he is CHOWING DOWN! 😻🍽️

Seeing him enjoying his food again makes us so incredibly happy. Thank you to everyone who donated, shared, and helped us get Ollie the care he needed. We truly couldn’t keep helping babies like Ollie without your support. ❤️

And we have even more exciting news — Ollie is officially on the list to go into adoptions! 🥹🐾 We are just waiting for a spot to open up for him, and then this incredibly friendly, loving boy will finally get his chance to find his forever family.

Ollie is seriously one of the friendliest boys out there, and after everything he’s been through, we can’t wait to see him loved and spoiled in a home of his own. 🧡🤍

❤️‍🩹 UPDATE ON ECLIPSE ❤️‍🩹

Eclipse had her surgery and everything went well! 🙏🐾 A new purse-string suture was put in place to help hold her re**al prolapse in while she heals. Now our sweet girl needs 10–14 days of healing and rest. ❤️‍🩹

Eclipse also wants to say THANK YOU to everyone for all the well wishes and shares! 🥹❤️🐾 It means so much to us and to our little fighter.

💔😭 OUR HEARTS ARE BREAKING FOR LITTLE ECLIPSE… 😭💔

We really thought this nightmare was behind her.

Two months ago, sweet little Eclipse was found abandoned at a gas station in Henderson with her brother and sister. When we found her, she was already suffering from a re**al prolapse. 💔

We immediately got her the medical care she needed, had the prolapse fixed, and for the last TWO MONTHS she has been doing great. ❤️‍🩹 I

She healed. She grew stronger. She became a happy, playful little kitten.

Eventually, Eclipse was healthy enough to go to PetSmart for adoption, and we thought the next update we would be sharing would be that she had finally found her forever home. 🏡🐾

Her brother and sister have already been adopted.

And then today… Eclipse’s prolapse came back. 😭💔

Our hearts just sank.

After TWO MONTHS of doing so well, our poor baby has to leave adoptions and go back to the vet again.

She didn’t deserve to be abandoned at a gas station.
She didn’t deserve to start her little life suffering.
And she certainly doesn’t deserve to have to fight through this all over again. 💔

But one thing Eclipse DOES have now is US.

She isn’t an abandoned kitten at a gas station anymore. She’s part of our family, and we’re going to stand beside her and fight for her for as long as she needs us. ❤️‍🩹🐾

Her forever home will have to wait just a little longer.

Please keep Eclipse in your thoughts and prayers. Come on, little girl… you beat this once. You can beat it again. 🙏😭❤️

🌙🐾 WE LOVE YOU, ECLIPSE. KEEP FIGHTING, BABY GIRL. 🐾🌙

💔 SAD UPDATE ON HOPE 💔

Some of you may remember Hope and the heartbreaking condition she was in when we found her last June. She was barely alive, severely dehydrated, and struggling to survive after her previous owners moved away and left her behind.

All Hope wanted was to be safe. All she wanted was someone to love her. ❤️‍🩹

Eventually, Hope got the happy ending we prayed for — she was adopted. We truly believed she would never have to feel abandoned again.

Unfortunately, Hope has now been returned because her adopter said they no longer have time for her.

And just like that, this sweet girl is experiencing heartbreak for the SECOND time. 💔

I went to see her today, and it absolutely broke my heart. After everything she has been through, Hope is still the same sweet, loving girl. She hasn’t given up on people. She still wants affection. She still wants to be loved.

Hope is now 3 years old, a beautiful tabby, and she deserves a family who will look at her and say:

“You’re home. You never have to worry about being left behind again.” 🥺❤️

📍 Hope is currently available for adoption at PetSmart — Fort Apache & Tropicana.

Please share Hope’s story. Somewhere out there is the person who will finally give this beautiful girl the FOREVER she has been waiting for.

Hope has already survived being abandoned twice. Let’s make sure there isn’t a third. 🐾❤️

🐾 WELCOME HUMPHREY TO THE DESERT WHISKERS FAMILY! 🐾

This handsome 1-year-old boy was found wandering the streets, trying to survive on his own. 💔 When we got Humphrey to safety, we discovered a terrible abscess on his ear that was painful and desperately needed treatment. Poor baby — we can only imagine how long he had been out there hurting.

And you know what Humphrey did the very first thing after he realized he was finally safe?

He curled up and took a long, LONG nap. 😭💔

That kind of sleep where they finally realize they don’t have to keep one eye open anymore. No more wandering. No more wondering where the next meal is coming from. No more trying to survive. He could finally just sleep. 🥹🧡

Despite everything Humphrey has been through, he is nothing but a bundle of joy and love. He is incredibly sweet and seems so thankful just to be safe.

Humphrey also tested FIV+ — but that doesn’t change a thing for us. FIV+ cats can live long, happy lives, and this beautiful boy deserves a loving home just as much as anyone else. ❤️

His ear is healing, and once he’s completely recovered and cleared by our doctors, Humphrey will be heading into adoptions very soon!

For now, sweet boy… sleep as long as you need. You don’t have to survive anymore. You’re safe. 😭🧡🐾

😭❤️ MELONY UPDATE — WE ARE CRYING WRITING THIS… ❤️😭

There were moments when we truly believed we were going to lose Melony.

We watched this beautiful girl get smaller and weaker while constant diarrhea took everything out of her little body.

She dropped all the way down to just 3 pounds. 💔

Three pounds.

We were terrified. We cried. We questioned everything. Test after test, trying different things, searching desperately for the answer that would save her life.

But every time we looked at Melony, we made the same promise…

WE ARE NOT GIVING UP ON YOU.

And neither did she. 😭❤️

With the incredible help of Dr. Wagner and Melony’s absolutely amazing foster, we finally started putting the pieces together.

WE SOLVED THE MYSTERY.

We discovered that several different foods were upsetting her system and contributing to the constant diarrhea. Once we figured out what she could tolerate, stopped the foods that were bothering her and gave her intestines time to finally rest and heal…

Our girl started coming back to us. 😭

The diarrhea improved.

Her body began healing.

She started gaining weight.

And the little girl who had dropped to a heartbreaking 3 pounds is now around 7 POUNDS AND THRIVING! ❤️😭

We can’t even explain the emotions.

We remember looking at that tiny 3-pound body and wondering if we were going to lose her.

Now we’re looking at a completely different girl.

She’s gaining weight. She’s feeling better. She’s enjoying life again.

And now comes the part that has us crying the hardest…

🏡❤️ MELONY WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION IN THE WEEKS TO COME!

From 3 pounds and fighting to survive to getting ready to find the family who will love her forever.

😭❤️ WE SAVED HER.

Thank you, Dr. Wagner, for continuing to search for answers.

Thank you to her incredible foster for loving this girl through the hardest days and never giving up.

And Melony…

Thank you for fighting. Thank you for holding on.

We love you more than words can possibly say.

YOU MADE IT, BABY GIRL. YOU MADE IT. 😭❤️🐾

Stay tuned… Melony’s next chapter is going to be the most beautiful one yet.
