‼️ Action Alert: Congress has already shown strong bipartisan support for the Major Richard Star Act.

Now support must lead to action.

If your Representative supports the bill, ask them to sign the discharge petition and help move this legislation forward.

What Memorial Day Really Means

Most of us think of Memorial Day as the fourth Monday in May, the unofficial start of summer, and a welcome long weekend for parades, picnics, and time with family and friends.
And that's fine — those things are part of it.

But Memorial Day is something deeper, and different from almost
every other holiday on our calendar.
It doesn't mark a particular event, honor a specific person, or celebrate a victory.
It exists for one purpose: to remember the more than one million men and women who gave their lives in service to this country.

That's why "Happy Memorial Day" doesn't quite fit.
This is not a happy holiday — it's a meaningful one.
Technically, Memorial Day honors those who died while serving in the military.

But if you feel moved to visit the grave of a grandfather who
served in Vietnam and came home, only to pass away years later— please do.
No one should discourage that.
Gratitude and remembrance are never wasted.

So how do we honor the day?
By decorating graves with flowers, as Americans have done since the Civil War era, when it was called "Decoration Day."
By attending a parade or ceremony.
By pausing, even briefly, to reflect on the sacrifice that makes our freedom possible.
Wishing you a meaningful, and grateful, Memorial Day weekend.
