This cat required immediate medical care. Once her lab results showed she was FIV positive (Feline AIDS), this poor kitty was deemed un-adoptable.

We are a 501(c)(3) charity that provides a last chance sanctuary to special needs, chronically ill, medically fragile and unadoptable and abandoned cats where they can live in safety and with lots of love and care. Our Story:
On October 6, 1995 a Siamese-mix cat arrived at Bonanza Cat Hospital for evaluation after a volunteer feeding strays at a trailer park noticed she had a severe head tilt. Sh

e would need a lifetime of medical care to assure her immune system would remain stable. Bonanza Cat Hospital became her new home and she was named Poppy. Poppy had attitude! She delighted in standing on our examining room tables and taking swipes at the staff whenever they passed through. She also began to develop quite a reputation as our "official greeter", casually sauntering out to the clinic waiting room with her tilted head and crooked mouth to "honor" a few lucky people by allowing them to pet her. Several of our clients began donating money towards her care and the cost of her medical needs. Sadly Poppy passed away September 20, 2001. We all loved her dearly and miss her every day. She gave so much enjoyment to so many. In Poppy's honor, the Poppy Foundation was created. Today, the Poppy Foundation provides homes and long term care for special needs, chronically ill, abused and abandoned cats. The Poppy Foundation is a non-profit, volunteer run organization and therefore relies solely on donations to help pay for medical expenses, food, and additional pet care. They are typically not adoptable and are with us for the remainder of their lives. We are dedicated to them all and will love and care for them as long as they roam our halls. Our current visiting hours are Monday and Tuesday from 3:30 - 5pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10am - 2pm. We are currently located at 3915 Helen Ave. Las Vegas, NV 89131.

We'll keep you up to date on his journey. But we have other socialization foster opportunities for our adoptable kitties that just need some time and love! Please reach out if you're interested in helping us get an adoptable kitty over their shyness!

3 year old Waldo was found abandoned outside, carrying with him a sweet little ear tilt and a heart that’s slowly learning how to trust again.

He can be a little nervous at first, but it doesn’t take long at all before his loving personality starts to shine through. Once he feels safe, he absolutely melts into affection, playtime, and attention. He truly loves love. 🥹

Waldo has only been a Poppy cat for a short time, but he’s already made a huge impression on everyone lucky enough to meet him. There’s just something very special about this boy.

Right now, we’re helping him continue to build confidence around people and learn that the world can be kind again. We would love to find a foster willing to help socialize him and continue showing him patience, comfort, and love.

Honestly? At this point, he’s already in our hearts. 🤍🥹🥰

Happy Cinco de Mayo!!

Thank you so much to everyone who came out to our Cinco de Meow event this past weekend! It was truly wonderful seeing so many familiar faces and getting to meet new friends, as well. The day felt full of warmth, laughter, and so much love for the kitties. 😻

Your support means more than we can ever fully express. You helped make the day incredibly special, for us and for them. We’re so grateful to have such a caring community around Poppy. 🤍😸

The moment you realize your procreating days are over…and you wonder if the chicken snack was worth it. 🙀🤔😦

This little one was outside our sanctuary. A small life, living quietly on the edges of a much bigger world. Part of a cycle most people never see. One that begins with survival, and too often stays there.

There are so many cats out there navigating life on their own, facing things they were never meant to face alone.

Moments like this are a gentle reminder of why spay and neuter matters so much.

It may seem like a small act, but it changes the future in ways we don’t always see, softening the path not just for this one, but for all the lives that would follow.

A quiet act with a lasting impact. 🤍
