Meet our board member and Scale The STRAT committee chair, Christopher "Chris" Quaresma, who joined the American Lung Association Board in 2025. As Recreation Superintendent for the City of North Las Vegas, he leads parks, recreation, and community programs. Inspired by his grandfather's battle with lung cancer, Chris is passionate about lung health advocacy and community impact. Originally from Quito, Ecuador, he is also a devoted soccer fan.

Today we release the American Lung Association’s 2026 “State of the Air” report, and the findings are clear: too many children - nearly half - are growing up breathing unhealthy air.

Despite decades of progress, 152 million people of all ages still live in areas with unhealthy levels of ozone or particle pollution. Recent EPA rollbacks will result in even more pollution in the air we breathe.

This Earth Day, join us in calling on EPA to protect the health of every child.
