🛻 Before anyone asks… no, we did not rent a U-Haul trailer to pick up two bags of donated bath towels. 🤣

❤️ First, a huge thank you to Michelle W. for thinking of our Misfits and donating these towels! Bath towels are one of those things we constantly use around here, so community donations like this are always incredibly appreciated.

🌧️ Now for the actual reason we happened to have a trailer with us when we picked them up…

🏜️ Living off-grid at the end of a long dirt road comes with a few adventures. The ranch thoroughly enjoyed the recent rain. The dogs had an absolute blast playing outside during the lighter showers.

🚧 The dirt roads, however, did not share in their enthusiasm.

😂 When we say Misfit Ranch is a family operation, we aren’t exaggerating. We have a family member who spends about half of every week at the ranch helping us with the dogs, projects, and whatever other chaos we’ve gotten ourselves into.

🚗 Unfortunately, after the storm, he discovered one minor flaw in his transportation plan:

A little Hyundai is apparently NOT an off-road vehicle.

Who knew? 🤷🏻‍♀️ 🤣

🏝️ So while the Hyundai has been enjoying an unexpected extended vacation at Misfit Ranch, its owner eventually needs to return to civilization and, more importantly, work.

🛻 The mission: pick up a trailer, load up the Hyundai and conduct The Great Misfit Ranch Escape.

😂 And since we had just picked up the trailer before stopping for Michelle’s donation, her towels received the most unnecessarily luxurious rescue photo shoot imaginable. 📸

❤️ And don’t worry… no rescue funds will be injured in the making of this great escape. The trailer rental is entirely for Operation: Free the Hyundai.

🎃🎂 OCTOBER MISFIT BIRTHDAYS: Well…birthday. Singular. 😂

Apparently Apex looked at the October calendar, saw no competition, and said, “Perfect. The month is mine.” 👑

🐾 Apex turns SIX on October 26th!

That means the entire month of October is basically just a 26-day countdown to Apex Day. We don’t make the rules. We just live here. 🤷‍♀️😂

🎉 Our handsome birthday boy will be celebrating the big 6 here at the Ranch, but there is still one thing on his birthday wish list that we haven’t been able to give him…

❤️ His very own sponsor human or family.

🧬 Meanwhile, we have several Misfits who would LOVE to participate in these monthly birthday shenanigans, but there’s one tiny problem…

They have no idea when their birthdays are. 😂

No birthday. No zodiac sign. No excuse for us to put a ridiculous party hat on them once a year. Honestly, it’s unacceptable.

🎂 We still have a selection of Misfits waiting for age tests, which give us an estimated age so we can finally give them a special day of their very own to celebrate.

🐾 We would like to clear up a small misunderstanding about how rescue works.

Apparently, moving to the ranch has led some people to believe we can simply sprinkle dogs throughout the desert like lawn ornaments. 😂

🤦🏻‍♀️ Unfortunately, that is frowned upon.

📧 Every day we receive calls, emails and messages about dogs at our local shelters who desperately need rescue. And we LOVE that so many people care enough to advocate for them.

Here’s the problem:

👉🏼 We already know they’re there. We need somewhere for them to go.

🏜️ We have the acreage but our rescue buildings are full. What we don’t currently have is another building to provide safe, appropriate housing for the additional dogs we’d all love to save.

🐶 Right now, one of the biggest ways to help a shelter dog is actually to help a dog who has already made it INTO rescue find a home.

Rescue adoptions create the space needed to help the dogs waiting for us at the shelter.

💁🏻‍♀️ We took so many surprise misfits in just before, during and after our move that we need a few adoptions here to create the space needed to welcome a new Misfit to the family. We still have three more surprise Misfits to announce!

The memo seems to have gotten lost that rescue advocacy is more than pulling a dog from a shelter. They need somewhere safe and stable to go when leaving that environment.

🙏🏼 So in lieu of sending us messages about dogs we’re anxious to bring in but don’t currently have the space for, please tell your neighbor about our adoptable dogs. Show your coworker their ridiculously cute faces. Send our website to your aunt who has been saying she “might get another dog someday.”

👷🏻‍♀️And if adoption isn’t your lane, that’s ok! We’re actively fundraising for expansion and looking for families or businesses interested in sponsoring or contributing toward our next rescue building.

🔄 Share our fundraising efforts with businesses or people you know who may be able to help.

❤️ Because the rescues already know which dogs need us.

🙌🏼 What we need is a community helping us create somewhere for them to go.

🩶 ACE UPDATE: HE DID IT! 🎉

🏥 This sweet boy officially had his neuter today, and we just picked him up from our wonderful friends Sunridge Animal Hospital ☺️

🥹 If you’ve followed Ace’s journey, you know what a big milestone this is. When Ace first came to Misfit Ranch after being abandoned, he was significantly underweight and dehydrated. Rather than rushing him into surgery, we gave his body the time, nutrition and care it needed to get healthy enough for this day.

💁🏻‍♀️ And today, he was finally ready 👏🏼

🐾 We are incredibly thankful to the team at Sunridge Animal Hospital for taking such special care of our boy. They are so wonderful with the animals entrusted to them, and knowing our Misfits are in compassionate hands means more to us than we can say.

😂 As for Ace? Naturally, he spent his visit doing what he does best—making new friends. Apparently surgery was just another opportunity to expand his social circle.

🏡 He is now back with us, resting comfortably and beginning his recovery. For the next couple of weeks his only jobs are to take it easy, heal, and somehow resist the urge to be the playful little prankster we all know he is. We suspect that last one may be the biggest challenge. 🤣

🎉 Once Ace clears his recovery, he’ll officially be ready for the next chapter we’ve been working toward since the day he arrived…

🐾 If you’ve been following our rescue journey for a while, you may remember this sweet face!

🏜️ Ellie came out for her very first visit to the new property while her family was traveling, which meant we got a few days with one of our adopted Misfits that we haven’t seen since earlier this year 🥰

🥹 There’s something incredibly special about getting to see a dog who was once part of our rescue journey come back simply because she needed a safe place to stay while her family was away. No crisis. No uncertainty. Just Ellie getting to enjoy the trails, soak up some Ranch time, and remind us why we do what we do.

🛁 Before heading home, she even got the full treatment with a bath and nail trim. Our support doesn’t stop at adoption!

❤️ Rescue doesn’t end when a dog gets adopted. Watching them move on to the lives we always hoped they would have is one of the best parts of this work.

And getting to love on them again every once in a while? That’s just a bonus. 🐾

THE VOTES ARE IN… and the Ranch has a new boss . 🤌🖤

🎬 After tallying the votes from Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, one name rose through the ranks with over 60% of the vote and officially took control of the operation…

🥃 Introducing CAPONE — Guardian of the Ranch.

🖤 When we introduced this big guy, we shared that he had actually been with us for quite some time. What started as rescue-rated boarding through All Out K9 eventually became something much more permanent, and somewhere along the way, he decided this Ranch was his to protect.

😂 So when it came time to finally give him his official Misfit name, we knew an ordinary name simply wasn’t going to cut it. A guy who patrols 50 acres like he owns the place needed something with a little more… authority.

🗳️ We gave you four choices: Capone, Furio, Vito and Carmine. You voted, we counted, and the people have spoken.

🤌 CAPONE it is.

🥹 We absolutely LOVE it, and judging by the votes, quite a few of you thought it belonged to him too.

❤️ Thank you to everyone who voted, shared the poll, recruited backup and helped us officially welcome this big guy into the Misfit family.

Our next Canine Food & Environmental Intolerance Testing Pop-Up is happening THIS SUNDAY at Dog Supplies in Centennial Hills!

💁🏻‍♀️ If you’ve been thinking about nutritional testing for your dog, now is the time!

Our testing is normally $300 per dog, but during the pop-up it’s just $250—and when you pre-register, you’ll save an additional $25, bringing your test down to only $225!

Once the event is over, testing returns to its regular pricing.

🐶 And remember, your dog does NOT have to attend!

Testing requires only a small hair sample. If your dog is reactive, uncomfortable in busy environments, has mobility limitations, or you simply can’t bring them along, we can provide instructions for collecting the sample yourself.

📬 Can’t make it Sunday? You can still participate! Pre-register before the event or contact us on Sunday to receive the event pricing. You can collect the sample at home and mail it in.

❓ Curious about testing but not sure if it’s right for your dog? Come talk to us! We’ll be there from 1–3 PM to answer questions about the testing process, results and nutritional services.

❤️ And every test does a little more good. This pop-up is a Misfit Ranch fundraiser, with proceeds helping provide nutritional testing, individualized diets and nutritional support for the rescue dogs in our care.

🖤 A couple of days ago, we finally introduced you to a new Surprise Misfit… although “new” might be a stretch, considering this big guy has actually been with us for quite a while. 😂 If you missed his introduction, be sure to go back and check out his post to learn how he officially became part of the Misfit family!

🏜️ Since settling into ranch life, he has appointed himself Guardian of the Ranch. He patrols the property, keeps tabs on everyone’s business and carries himself like he’s pretty sure the whole operation belongs to him.

🤌 So naturally, a guy running this kind of operation needs a proper gangster name.
