Today is history:

“They had no right to win. Yet they did, and in doing so they changed the course of a war... Even Against the greatest of odds, there is something in the human spirit – a magic blend of skill, faith and valor – that can lift men from certain defeat to incredible victory.” Walter Lord

We thank the wonderful members of the Vegas Valley Mustang Club for inviting us to their May meeting to present us with the incredible donation. Two Veterans seats will be sponsored because of their efforts.
We enjoyed having one of their own on our April flight. His warm, passionate presentation to the group resulted in Honor Flight receiving the club's vote-thank you, Veteran Gawura!
We wish you great travels on your outings this summer! Thank you for your support. 🇺🇸

CONGRATULATIONS to our Chef-in-Chief, Chef JB!!

Many of you know Chef JB from our Pancake Breakfasts, but his impact reaches far beyond our events. A respected long-time leader in the Las Vegas culinary community, Chef JB was recently honored as the American Culinary Federation- Las Vegas Chef of the Year!

While his culinary talents are exceptional, what truly sets Chef apart is the heart he brings to everything he does. In addition to volunteering at our semi-annual breakfasts, he generously gives his time and talents to numerous community and Veteran-focused causes, always looking for ways to serve others. Most recently, Chef stepped in to mentor and train a remarkable group of young people at The Blooming Bistro (check them out), helping develop the next generation of culinary professionals and community leaders.

And did you know... he's also a Veteran?!

Perhaps that's why service comes so naturally to him. Whether he's preparing a meal, mentoring a student, supporting fellow Veterans, or volunteering in the community, Chef JB leads with humility, generosity, and his signature smile!

Please join us in celebrating this well-deserved honor. Congratulations, Chef JB! We are proud to call you one of our own!

It was an exceptional weekend of honor, remembrance, and reflection.

Members of our volunteer team were able to attend several events, joining our community and reconnecting with familiar faces. We placed flags alongside several of our Veteran Alumni, as well as members of the Young Men’s Service League (who also write letters for our Veterans).

We took time to say the names of several of our alumni who are now at rest, while honoring the many we never had the privilege to know.

We share some of the images from the weekend in the attached video.

Thank you to Chris Naylor and his team at the Nevada Department of Veterans Services – Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery; Vincent Palmieri and the members of Purple Heart Chapter 711 Greater Las Vegas NV, and Phil Webb and his team at Palm Eastern Mortuary & Cemetery – Henderson for organizing these extraordinary events to honor our fallen.

The voices you will hear were recorded live throughout the weekend, including Frank Pizarro performing the National Anthem and the Lady Luck Showtime Chorus singing God Bless America.

May we continue to live a “life worth their sacrifice.”

We have chosen to share this video every year.
Our HFSN Alumni Larry Hastings, Vietnam Veteran, Bereaved Brother and thoughtful local Veteran historian, shared his research collection of all lost in the Vietnam War from Southern Nevada shortly after we met him five years ago. Their families deserve to know we continue to remember them and hold them close as part of our Southern Nevada family.

As we honor and remember those who gave all, let us also pause to acknowledge all our Gold Star families who gave us their very best and their brothers and sisters in arms who keep their names alive.

Thank you, Larry, for your continued pursuit to ensure we remember.
