Native Son Spelling Bee (NSSB) cordially invites all Clark County 3rd and 4th graders to compete in the 4th Annual Native Son Spelling Bee

The Bee’s name was inspired by Sam Smith: educator, community activist and owner of the only black owned bookstore in the State of Nevada, “Native Son.”

The competition is open to all students currently enrolled in the Clark County School District.

The 2018 Native Son Spelling Bee’s Executive Committee has been working diligently over the past several months to ensure that we can match the success of last year and preserve the legacy of Sam Smith.

The competition will showcase our students’ grace, composure and spelling expertise.

In addition, participation in the event will:

Increase students’ vocabulary;

expand their comprehension of language; and

further develop their ability to use English correctly.

Above all, we hope to teach our participating children the value of education and instill in them, a life-long love of learning.

Participating schools will have the opportunity to start or continue a celebrated academic tradition and shine the light on
